So what are you guys doing this winter to stave off the cabin fever?

Here is my list

-Make spinnerbaits, jigs and perhaps a jointed swimbait

-Read KVD's bass strategies book

-Watch KVD's Avanced spinnerbait DVD a several more times.

-Read several other books on bassfishing

-Also look through my 4 year stack off Bassmasters

-Rig a fish finder on my kayak

-Also put a camera mount on it

-And lose 40lbs.

That's what I got, for now. How about you guys?

This time of year, I do a lot of upland/waterfowl hunting. It's the February-March time period that drives my crazy.

I usually pass my time by:

1. Pulling my hair out.

2. Banging my head on the table.

3. Chewing on aluminum foil.

I hope this helps.

1. Fishing

2. Trying to finish a better working prototype of a lure my friend, and I designed. Thing catches fish like crazy. We just need to make it more durable.

3. Hunting coons

4. Hunting Coyotes. Man pays us 25 dollars for each one we bring him.

5. Loseing the 60 lbs of fat the doctor wanted me to lose, then packing on thirty five pounds of muscle.

6. Training for the January 2013 tough guy challenge.

"Tough Guy Challenge 2009

Billed as "the safest most dangerous taste of physical and mental endurance pain in the world", the Tough Guy Challenge took place yesterday, February 1st, on South Perton Farm, near Wolverhampton, England. Thousands of challengers (men and women) started the endurance race, with hundreds dropping out along the way due to exhaustion or injury - broken bones, dislocations, and over 600 cases of hypothermia. Even the overall winner, James Appleton, was treated briefly for hypothermia. The course takes racers through 21 obstacles - through mud, freezing water, across ropes and burning terrain. "

My dad had a saying for me when I subjected myself to far less than the "tough guy challenge". He said I was like the guy who kept hitting himself in the head with a hammer because it felt so good when he stopped. :dazed-7:

I have a few "Old Favorite" casting and spinning rods that need to be re-wrapped.

So I'll be taking my time with it.

Perhaps doing one guide a day would be a good pace to help make it last . . . .

What ya starting out at raider? Im currently at 241, lookin to get down to 200 before the Guntersville roadtrip. I was at 280 in august and have kind of slowed down a bit. Starting back up again with exercise and eating right. Just started doing this royal tea detox thing and it's working pretty good. 1 cup everyday and been doing it for 3 days so far and lost 3lbs, so 1lb (dunno how long that will continue). Only thing is it gives you the Hershey squirts.

Working on my boat.....I'll have cabin fever but this one is going to keep me busy all winter.

Also starting as a full time student after Christmas. I haven't been in school in going on 15 years, so I'm nervous.

Otherwise I need to tie up an entire box of jigs.

I might practice some air-brushing too. I've got all the stuff, even the air brush compressor.. Just haven't done it yet.

In the winter I take up Knitting, laundry, housework, and I really enjoy cleaning the bathrooms. Nothing gets you going like fishing in the crapper for a 3 day old piece of doody.........

Sorry, must be the fever talking

330 back in October. I'm down to 289 right now. Once I start heavy on the diet next week, it should come off quickly.

Went there last year and got to meet and chat with KVD and see some new tackle ideas, plus just look at tackle in general haha. was very fun. Definitely going to go again.

I also might do some Ice fishing in the UP so hopefully that will quell some of my need to catch fish.

As long as the river doesn't dry up, I fish for these:

Conditioning for lacrosse should help keep me sane. Who doesn't like to run non-stop for 3+ hours a day everyday?

That might make for part of a nice weekend getaway. I could drag the war dept down with me, find a place to stay Saturday night so I could hit BPS or Cabelas on the way home Sunday.

I'm quite a few rest stops north but have in-laws in Fenton (who actually like me ? )

I missed it last year so my brother-in-law went solo and got me a KVD autographed hat.

I'd like to attend this year but it will depend on the road conditioins.

It seems to underline my misspelled words. Make some spelling errors and check :)

I could use a fishing book or two to read. Any suggestions?

Have you read Ike's book yet?

That's a good read for sure. Mostly just a bio of sorts on Iaconelli, but you'll pick up some info throughout. Really good book IMO.

Otherwise KVD's first book is pretty good.

I've got some others, but those are about the only two I feel OK recommending.
