Haven't tried shakey head fishing. Looks like fun. What are some good plastics to put on a shakey head besides the normal straight tail worm? would a flappin hog work?

One of my favorites has been the flying squirrel from big bite baits. I have had good luck with it. I also like rage craws of course.

Well, I'm one of Rage Tail's biggest fans, but for shaky head fishing, I'm still married to the MegaStrike Shak E2/ GYCB Kut Tail.

Shakey head fishing is the Bomb when the bite is tough. My favorite baits for this technique, are 7" Rage Tail Thumper worms and Rage Craws. My buddy always uses the Trick Worms, but he seems to catch a lot more dinks than I do when I'm using the bigger profile baits. We both agree on one thing, though. The best shakey head jig out there, is the Moaner Stiffy Jig.

i also love a cut tail on a shakey head. another one of my favorites is a 4" lizard on a 1/16 shakey when the bite gets tough.

Straight tail worms have always worked very well for me, so I have not bothered with anything else. If it ain't broke why fix it ? Hard to beat a 4"-5" worm when the bite is tough, any brand, any color, they all work.

Thinesse worm and boxing craws by Whopper baits. He also makes a unique style shakeyhead jig.

For finesse I like the squirrel tails and brushog when I want a bigger profile. I also use flukes to imitate bottom feeders.

Most any plastic will work depending on the conditions.

Just remember it's just a jig head. The shakey head is only unique in that it is weedless (relatively) and forces the plastic to stand up.

I've got a favorite, but for the most part, you can't beat a normal strait tail worm.

BTW, one that might be a favorite of mine, IF I could figure a good way to rig it on a shakey head is the Strike King Perfect plastic finesse worms.

That stuff is so soft, and flexible. Problem is, makes it IMPOSSIBLE to screw onto a screw lock, and is even hard to get a barb pushed into it.

Heat up the screw lock with a lighter, then just push the bait onto it most of the way, give it a couple turns and it should stay put, same goes for the Zman baits that are made from the same material

I used to have the same problem, and the lighter trick doesn't always work and slowly melts and weakens the screw lock.

Then I discovered the Gamakatsu Skip Gap shakey heads. The 3x ElazTech worms are my favorite too, but I hated using them because of the hassle. Now I always have one tied on with a skip gap shakey head.

Thanks, I'll try those.

Buy shakey heads with a stainless steel screwlock and it will solve that problem.

I tried heating also. Wasn't impressed with the results....They just don't screw onto a lock worth a darn.
