Hey guys and gals

I'm biulding a 7' M F spinning rod and was wandering if you guys could give me some advise on different reels.

My budget is 200$.

I've tried the Revo Premier and REALLY like it. the reel needs to be as lite as possible and smooth. I'm kind of going to biuld the rod around the reel forsay. Any suggestions appreciated!!

Thanks

Favorite in the sub $200 range is the Stradic CI4 followed by the Certate, and then the Stradic.

I think you will like the CI4, it has many of the features that Shimano originally introduced in the Stella.

Ive caught big saltwater fish on my 2500CI4. The eva handle gave up the ghost early on and Shimano didnt have replacements for a very long time though. Now I prefer the new FJ's. A weight penalty but the x ship is noticibly smoother and Ill go to great lengths to avoid the new popular eva door knob handles.

TW has Daiwa Fuegos on sale at around $160. I don't own one, but it looks darn good to me at that price.

i just got a Fuego from the TW sale, seems to be a great reel...very smooth, light, not a huge fan of the red, as it clashes with the legend tournament ill put it on, but thats not a big deal! havent had it out yet as the water around me is frozen, so i cant say much else about it that that.

i also have a pflueger patriarch, and that has been a very nice reel for me, even lighter than the fuego, not quite as smooth, but still very smooth, great drag... handled many big smallies, along with some decent pike and big channel cats and sheepshead, handled them all without a hiccup.

Pflueger Patriarch gets my vote.

I have 2 Patriarch, 1 CI4 and 1 sustain FE. Out of the bunch i like the Patriarch the most. Just my 2 cents.

I just upgraded from a Sahara to a Stradic this past spring, and I love it.

I like just about every spinning reel I have, none give me any problems. Soron, stradic, Penn conquer, Quantum cabo, Pflueger supreme, can't really say I favor one over the other. Without any doubt my smoothest is a Pflueger medalist 5000, I don't use it anymore because of the heavy weight, but it's an outstanding reel.

I love my saros 1000. Crazy smooth , great drag and it looks fantastic on my river runner.

Try the FJ and you'll see a difference in smoothness between it and the CI. Then its just a matter of what you prefer, lighter weight or increased mechanical fluidity.

I have two Shimano Symetres and one Sahara. Never had a need to buy anything more expensive yet.

I've always been a huge fan of Shimano spinning reels but decided to try a Pfluegar Supreme XT this year and love it. It is so light and smooth and casts great. Plus I get a spare spool so I can switch line sizes or from braid to floro if needed. Don't know if Shimano gives you a spare spool or not anymore. Last Symetre I bought didn't come with a spare spool.
