Well I own a Gold series carrot stix for flipping and its been great except for a guide issue i fixed. I also owned a 7'3 mh micro that I broke on a hook set with a frog on my 3rd trip or so out with it. I then had one heck of a time to get somebody on the phone to set up a replacement. I finally have got in touch with somebody and I can get it replaced for 40$ and I can swap rods if I want.

Really the 7'3 MH is perfect for what I want it to do. Buzz frogs, spro frogs, and some light flipping duties. However now I'm terrified I'm going to break it again if I use braid. So I've thought about going with the 7ft XH but was a little worried about it being to heavy to throw 3/8 ounce jigs I usually throw. While at the same time I hate to loose the three inches for better hook sets on the frogs.

Then you have the 7'6 heavy. My only concern with it is it might be a little to long. I have a flipping stick and I love it but the length would make it difficult to walk a frog. Not to mention it would possibly wear you out as well.

I'd love some feed back on any others with carrot stix breakage issues especially with this line. Plus anybodies thoughts on length and power ratings.

My buddy has the 7' xh, and he flips 3/8oz jigs with no problem.

Cut them down to the first eyelet and match them up with a cheapo reel and

80 lb braid. This makes for a GREAT lure retriever and probably the best use

for the rods.

:D:rolleyes:  :D

That would be a VERY expensive lure retriever IMO. Better not buy the rod, reel or the braid; and get half a dozen "real" lure-retrievers. Would be cheaper in the long run. :P

With all do respect my fellow anglers lets not turn this into a bashing thread. I've created one for that several months ago. I wouldn't pay full price for another carrot because of the breakage issue, but I've also broken two st croix rods due to no fault of my own. So I'm going to spend 40$ on a rod replacement ONCE! So if you can add something constructive thank u very much. Otherwise enjoy your noisy guides RW! :P

I saw the carrot stix on sale at gander mountain this past week for $99 and thought it was a good deal but didnt get one due to their so so reputation. Plus for the same price if not a couple bucks more I would get another croix mojo bass, but I am interested in more information on the carrot stix if anyone has it?

I own a original Carrot Stix, (Not the micro guide) and it is a good rod for sure. I find it hypocritical that you judge the carrot stix by the bad rap they receive here when the mojo bass gets just as bad if not worse rap here, yet you still like them. Every rod will perform different for each owners specific situation.

hmm not sure if I was hypocritical because I was really reaching out for information?? I appreciate the feedback though sorry if you misunderstood me or if it seemed like I was bashing them
