Forum Rookie Looking For Posting Advice

I'm Sean, I'm 25 and live in VA Beach and constantly think about when i can fish next. i already introduced myself back in May when i first joined the forum but havent been as diligent as i would have liked when it comes to posting. i do alot of bass article reading here but feel like posting a "good job" on someones thread is a "cheap" post with no real value. this has kept me from posting. the majority of the time.

My question is, "How to i effectively post my valid questions without looking like im just here to dig info and run?" i posted a question under the Southeastern Fishing forum yesterday, but there havent been any comments. i have a suspicious feeling that the regulars think im just looking for the secrets and moving on. i could use a tip or two if you have them. Thanks and tight lines...

I don't think anyone is going to decide not to give you info because they think you're going to "dig info and run." Most of us on here just like to help people out catching fish and to tell lies, errr, stories There's nothing wrong with giving someone a "good job" comment, just as long as you aren't doing it just to run up your posts count. Just make sure you're offering some info and asking questions along with those attaboys.

As for nobody responding to your posts, if it's a general question, or one about tackle and not a specific body of water you might trying posting it in one of the boards that get read a little more often. If you're asking for someone's secret spot on a lake you might have a little more trouble getting info. If you have questions about a lake you might try just describing the lake, time of year, conditions, and what others would do. That way you'll get input from others without anyone feeling like you're trying to get their spot that they worked hard to find for nothing.

Just post your questions in the correct board but don't think any one is dissing you because you don't get an answer , believe it or not but the people who fished a certain lake just may not have read your plea for help.

I moved your post up in the SE section. However, no one is dissin' you. Just about anyone on this forum

that sees a post and can help, will! Although I don't know anything about that reservoir, maybe someone

else will. Regarding "hit and run", blast away! Know one cares how many questions you ask nor how much

you participate. It's all for fun. If you decide to get more involved, you will make friends and your posts may

become more important to some members.

I have found that asking in the region specific forums isn't as good for getting responses than other areas. I have many times just generalized the question moved it to a different section and viola loads and loads of advice and suggestions. This board is by far the best place for information and comraderie on the net.

The beauty of this Forum is not only guys and gals who love to bass fish but the varied opinions that are offered that you will find invaluable.

There are no bad questions - but there can be some funny answers. Like, what is the best way to catch a bass in the pond behind by house in Tidewater? Answer: Use a hook and line.

Most are here to learn and answer questions when we have knowledge. Ask your questions and almost always when one of us has an answer you will get a reply. If you ask a specific question or something about a specific lake or area there might not be anyone with an answer for a few days but almost always you will get an answer in a reasonable amount of time..

If you describe the lake, impoundment or stream someone might be able to give you a general answer for that type of water body.

In my view your suspicions are incorrect. Questions are answered here when someone with the information reads the post.

I live in the NE so I rarely if ever look at the SE site. I'll read your post and see if I can contribute but since I have never fished in VA or very close (closest I have fished would be GA and AL) any answer I would give is at best a generality.
