Super User Hi Salenity Posted December 6, 2011 Super User Posted December 6, 2011 So I live in the small town of Osawatomie Kansas. It's a town of only around 4500 people until today. The President will be making a speech in our High school for 400 people Today. First off I did not vote for the man but I do respect him as the President of the united states. The town has been filled with secret service... for over a week now . They have set up surveillance cameras and searched through buisneses... Black hawks & Chinooks have been at our small airport & they have some sort of satellite set up at the airport. I'm not the biggest Obama fan But he is the President and this should be a pretty cool event for our little town. I'm not going to see the speech (I'll watch it on TV) but I would like to check out the motorcade and all of the Secret Service. Either way it may be a good day to leave the CCW at home. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted December 6, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2011 I just drove up by the High school and it's a ZOO! Police... from town's 30+ miles away getting ready for the "visit". I even saw homeowners charging People $20 to park in their yards!!! I was shocked and saddened by this. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted December 6, 2011 Super User Posted December 6, 2011 Here's the thing, if they don't charge, people are going to park in their yards anyway. Quote
JoePhish Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Nothing wrong with making a few extra bucks if the event has disrupted life as usual in your town. I'm sure someone is making Obama on Tour t-shirts as I type this. The most disturbing part of it all for me would be the part about businesses getting searched, especially if they're privately owned.. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 6, 2011 Super User Posted December 6, 2011 I see no problem in searching the businesses, the President of the United States is the #1 head of state in the world. Had the businesses in Dallas, including the book depository, been searched President Kennedy's assassination may have been avoided. Can't comment on the parking without living there. I'm going to post something about the tomb of the unknown soldier in the everything section Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted December 6, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2011 I have no problem with them searching anything they need to search or someone trying to make a buck. I just wish the sign would have said "park here free" It would have shown a bit of class for the town. I did get to see the president's motorcade on it's way out of town. Pretty cool, He even waved as it drove by. Quote
JoePhish Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Had the businesses in Dallas, including the book depository, been searched President Kennedy's assassination may have been avoided. That's hypothetical and debatable. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 7, 2011 Super User Posted December 7, 2011 That's hypothetical and debatable. Of course it's debatable that's why I said "may have been avoided." If a search is done there may be a possibility of discovery, simply put " an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 7, 2011 Super User Posted December 7, 2011 There were a lot things done wrong that day. Changed the security model forever. Quote
GLADES Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 The shock and awe security planning is justified in today's world 1 Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Regardless what you think of Obama, it would have been a pretty cool experience to have him come to your small town. Personally I'd like to see him speak in person. Even those who can't stand him at all, have to admit he is a good speaker. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 7, 2011 Global Moderator Posted December 7, 2011 I didn't have a chance to make it because I was working but I heard he said something about being glad to be back in Texas??! I guess the snow on the ground wasn't a giveaway that he wasn't in Texas Quote
