loodkop Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I have rediscovered an old green curado in a 3.8:1 gear ratio. Does anybody still use reels this slow? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 6, 2011 Super User Posted December 6, 2011 A great reel for deep cranking. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted December 6, 2011 Super User Posted December 6, 2011 Sure do. As stated it's a great reel for deep cranking. Plus I keep new gear set upgrades to 5.1:1 and 6.2:1 in my parts bins. Great reels the old B series. Good Luck & Tight Lines! Quote
Vinny Chase Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Had one, but it was WAAYYY too slow for me. I am now using a 5:1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 8, 2011 Super User Posted December 8, 2011 I do, religioulsy, it makes cranking those looooong deep divers a piece of cake, also for slow rolling them spinnerbaits with blades as large as hub caps. Quote
KevO Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I would love to get my hands on one of these reels for deep cranking. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 KevO, you're a few weeks too late; I sold mine two weeks ago. Quote
KevO Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Every time I find one for sale, it's already sold! Quote
loodkop Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Thanks for the advice guys. Now I just need to figure out the side imaging on my fishfinder to find some structure to deep crank. As it is midsummer in the southern hemisphere I suppose it should be a good tactic to try. Chris Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Sure do. As stated it's a great reel for deep cranking. Plus I keep new gear set upgrades to 5.1:1 and 6.2:1 in my parts bins. scbassin Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I am with Raul on this I have 2 & use them for slow rolling big spinnerbaits. Both of them are super tuned & I can cast a crankbait a country mile, so I pretty much use them on all crankbaits when the water temp is 50 & below. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted December 11, 2011 Super User Posted December 11, 2011 If I can ask? What does a 5.1 to 1 gear set cost ? All of the 200B series gear sets were running the $30.00 mark. But you cannot find them any longer, unless you have one of each in the gear ratios. All of my green Cu 201B' (5) are LH crank reels and I know you cannot find gear sets for them any longer... Good Luck & Tight Lines! Quote
