There are no gas stations open no stores nothing instead I gotta drive all the way to the closest super walmart dead tired ready for bed. It's a half hour drive one way. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 6, 2011 Super User Posted December 6, 2011 http://wantingwhatyouhave.com/2010/03/frugal-strategy-4-make-your-own-baby.html Been there, done that You should always have extra wipes around, they are so useful other than wiping poo Quote
preach4bass Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 An hour round trip at midnight for baby wipes? Your problem isn't where you live, but what you constitute as an emergency. You're going to have a very difficult life if running out of baby wipes is a big deal. Just grab an old rag, paper towel, or some good ol' TP, and wipe that baby's butt off. The kid will survive until you can get to the store and buy some more wipes, I promise. 3 Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted December 6, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2011 It wasn't to big a deal I'd rather do that then the midnight cravings for orange sherbert for the prego wife just to find out once home mostly 90% orange rainbow sherbert isn't good enough. idk why I didn't think of just using tp I was probably to tired and just thought oh well we need it and took off. Stasher1 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I love the midnight trips to the grocery/department store. That's when all of the weirdos come out. Of course, I have a half dozen Walmarts within 20 minutes of here, and probably twice that many 24 hour grocery stores. That's one of the few perks of living in suburbia. Quote

We used to go out late to see the weirdos befor I got married and stayed out all night but we were probably the weirdos we were never sober lol Quote

There are a thousand things I would have found in my house to use instead. Did the baby sit in poop while you were gone for an hour and a half? If I leave at midnight, it's to a hospital or to get some kind of Meds for the kids, nothing else. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted December 10, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 10, 2011 No he wasn't sitting in poop a big part of it was also the fact there wasn't any to get the wife threw the day well I was at work.normally if she runs out she will go get stuff but I had the truck for the day cuz we took my car off the road. tipptruck1 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I use to live in the middle of no were. Nearest town had only 500 people. Nearest gas station open 24 hours was 20 miles. Nearest 24 hour wal mart was 40 miles away. Closest mcds was 30 miles. I really miss that. I now have more neighbors within 100 ft of me now. Then I use to have in a 5 mile radius. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted December 11, 2011 Super User Posted December 11, 2011 You're a nice guy taking care of that. In an effort to keep that from happening more often, I would pack EVERYBODY up and taken them with me Every time that happens. I'm betting there would be a bit more attention paid to the "needed supplies" inventory. Additionally, if we were all making those trips, suddenly we would find alternate / suitable replacement supplies until morning. I'm not saying, I'm just saying. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 11, 2011 Super User Posted December 11, 2011 btw - middle of no where is a relative term. In my mind, it means there there is nothing there for me. Sounds like there is plenty where you live. A packed urban environment although heavily populated, has very little that interest me. A-Jay 1 Quote

If living in the sticks is nowhere, I love it. Now when I was in North Dakota we had a sign at one of the missile sites that said "Contrary to popular belief this isn't the end of the world..... But you can see it from here!" Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 11, 2011 This was the first time it happend sense we have had kids 2.5 years now not a every week occurrence. I love where I live we joke it a ink spotch on the map nothing but cows and corn fields. There's a few small stores that's it besides walmart seriously surrounded by farm land for miles. Quote
