RiverFisher13 Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Oh Son!!! What about Roland Martin? Man has his name on almost as much stuff as KVD. But the thing i like about KVD is that he is NOT a salesman. He tells you what type of baits, last episode of the bass pros i saw he told you what color and bait to use but not the manufacture. I know his sponsors didn't like it to much but it makes me listen allot more since the man doesn't have strike king stamped on his forehead. Quote
jeremyt Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I'll agree with Ish Monroe. That guy wouldn't be half as far as he is now without the way he can promote his sponsors. He shows that you don't have to always finish high to be pro fisherman. lol Shaw Grigsby because he loves and believes his sponsors AND he finishes well enough to usually be a name in the money. He has a great mix of personality, loyalty, heart, and talent. KVD has selling down because of performance. I honestly don't think i've ever heard him sound absolutely sincere when talking about how much he believes in a product. The man obviously does, or you wouldn't see him using out of the box strike king lures for the past couple classics and other elite tours. But he just doesn't act out the part to make it sound like he's truly in love with it.lol I agree with you somewhat, I just think that KVD isn't that outgoing personality wise, I may be wrong because obviously I don't know the man but he just seems even keel, relaxed. (whatever you want to call it ) all the time. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 With the advent of the internet, dozens of TV shows and just as many magazines, SELLING is not the same today like it was in the 70's and 80's. How many remember the original Dancin' Eel. Guys were chomping at the bit to get one or 12 in the day. Anglers today are much more savvy and descriminating. I see myself buying techniques, not products and then considering lure or equipment options. How you trust the pro's image will give the product credibilty. TV shows that are little more than infomercials get no attention from me. Anyone for a 2 ounce five hour energy drink ??? Quote
NBR Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 KVD, he sold me a boat before he turned pro! Quote

The big name pro anglers today wont just put there name a crap, they're smart enough to know that once their name gets tainted on bad products there's no getting back its former credibility. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted January 12, 2012 Super User Posted January 12, 2012 KVD gets my vote as well. Saw his name on some finesse worms and figured I'd give them a shot since they were a lot cheaper than the Yamamotos that I was using. Ended up loving them and now use them for drop shotting more than any other bait. If not for KVD, I probably wouldn't have bought them. Quote
avid Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I have to go with KVD...People who are sports fans but not fisherman know his name. He's the Muhammad Ali of bass fishing. Quote
