Super User Sam Posted December 4, 2011 Super User Posted December 4, 2011 First half field position shackled the Fighting Tigers but they exploded in the second half for a fun 42-10 victory over the Jaw-Ja Puppy Dogs. Now to wait to find out if we play either Bamasux or the Okie State Okras. Okra is delicious. In gumbo it is the best. Another feast for the Fighting Tigers if the Okras make it to NOLA. Bad news is that Virginia Tech got blasted by Clepson. Bummer. Best part of the game was when Vern "Alabama Schill" Lundquist had to say something nice about LSU. That fat SOB, who was victorious with his fight against anorexia, is a piece of work. Now make plans to attend the BCS game in NOLA. Geaux Tigers!!!!! Quote
shootermcbob Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 LSU is head and shoulders above the rest of the country right now. They are so explosive defensively that eventually the other team wilts under the constant pressure they bring. Just for clarification, other than LSU, no team in the country was playing better or had a hotter streak going than Georgia. 42 to 10. says it all. Think about this scenario. Alabama beats LSU in title game...who is national champion. Say the score is 7-6??? I think LSU will win the game, but if they lose by a point, the teams are now 1-1, and yet Bama would be crowned champs. Quote

I think there is a possibility of a split championship if AL were to beat LSU in a title game. However, I don't they deserve another chance to take a beating. I would rather see some fresh meat thrown in the arena. Keep in mind this is coming from a Gator and I'm doing my best not to barf while I give LSU credit... Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted December 5, 2011 Super User Posted December 5, 2011 It's just a crying shame that the Big Twelve Champions (OSU) aren't going to be able to vie for the National Championship with LSU. I HATE the BCS selection process. Why can't there be a play-off between each of the Conference Champions? 2 Quote

I HATE the BCS selection process. Why can't there be a play-off between each of the Conference Champions? Are you saying it's not possible for the two best teams in the country to reside in the same division, in the same conference? Not saying the BCS is perfect, but the rankings from the BCS are derived from human voters too...Computers don't just magically spit out an answer. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 5, 2011 Super User Posted December 5, 2011 I not saying it's not possible for the two (potentially) best teams in the nation to reside in the same division. I'm saying that LSU is the conference champ. They beat Bama, but Bama has not had a rigorous schedule as some of the other conferences - the Big Twelve, for example. Don't get me wrong on this. I grew up in Louisiana and am an avid LSU fan. I now reside in Oklahoma and my wife is an OSU Alum. So I cheer for both LSU and OSU. It's my opinion that LSU and OSU are the best teams in the nation, and if they played against each other I confess that I would cheer for whoever won. Since I am in the Christmas decorating spirit, I want to tell Bama to go flock themselves. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted December 5, 2011 Super User Posted December 5, 2011 I believe Alabama and LSU will both steamrolled OSU....Alabama is the ONLY team in the country that can beat LSU. The BCS wants to put the top two ranked team in the national championship, it never mention anything about conference titles. The chip fell where they fell. Even if OSU went to title game and got steamrolled and Alabama squash whoever it is they play, we'll still be left debating who better between Alabama and LSU. It hard for me to grasp that OSU can beat LSU and Alabama. We've seen this show too many times where a high powered offense faltered in the title game against an SEC defense. Alabama had LSU on the rope and didn't play their best with all the penalties and missed kicks, but that the past. (in fact, no one has came closed to beating LSU like Alabama did. Unless you want to count Miss. State.) Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 5, 2011 Super User Posted December 5, 2011 Either way it would have gone was wrong. I can see both sides of the argument, but I tend to lean towards the OSU side. The pro BCS'ers will say the whole season is a playoff and every game counts ... except for the "Game of the Century". What a crock. Bama basically gets a redo and OSU does not. How is that fair? And the whole "Bama is the only team that can beat LSU ... or Both Bama and LSU would steamroll OSU" is crap. Absolutely no way of knowing. What we do know though, is LSU can beat Bama. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 5, 2011 Super User Posted December 5, 2011 NEWS FLASH...........The BCS SUCKS !!!!!!! That's all. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted December 5, 2011 Super User Posted December 5, 2011 It's just a crying shame that the Big Twelve Champions (OSU) aren't going to be able to vie for the National Championship with LSU. I HATE the BCS selection process. Why can't there be a play-off between each of the Conference Champions? Because untold millions of people who aren't tied to the dynasty known as the SEC will still tune in to the championship game. If people (including folks like me) don't want to see a continuation of this flawed system, they simply need to turn the channel selector when this game comes on. Only the Neilsen ratings will wake up the people who make these choices. Let's just look forward to Bama squeaking by LSU for a narrow win and OSU blowing out a huge win in their game. Then OSU can finish in third place in the final polls. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Wonder why the SEC has the best stuff? Its all about the money: SEC BOWL REVENUE DISTRIBUTION (A) For bowl games providing receipts which result in a balance of less than $1,500,000, the participating institution shall retain $800,000 plus a travel allowance as determined by the SEC Executive Committee. The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution. ( For bowl games providing receipts which result in a balance between $1,500,000 and $3,999,999, the participating institution shall retain $1,000,000 plus a travel allowance as determined by the SEC Executive Committee. The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares, with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution. © For bowl games providing receipts which result in a balance between $4,000,000 and $5,999,999, the participating institution shall retain $1,200,000 plus a travel allowance as determined by the SEC Executive Committee. The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares, with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution (D) For bowl games providing receipts which result in a balance between $6,000,000 or more, the participating institution shall receive $1,700,000 ($1,800,000 if the SEC team is a participant in the Bowl Championship Series game which determines the National Championship) plus a travel allowance as determined by the SEC Executive Committee. The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares, with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution. That means the SEC will receive $23,850,000.00 for there conference and teams with the 2011 bowl season schedule and that is just the 3 BCS and capitol one.. It doesn't include the other smaller ones. And the rich get richer 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 6, 2011 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2011 Ima, thanks for the info. I have no problem with it!!!!! And by the way, LSU can make upwards of $8,000,000 for each home game. I am sure the other big time football schools do the same. Tiger Stadium will be expanded to over 96,000 in the near future so the $8,000,000 number may increase a little. But who's counting???? Quote

Not to mention that it was an atrocious game to watch. Hell, I think Ga Southern deserves a rematch with Bama since that Div 1-AA school scored more points against Bama than any of the mighty SEC teams Quote
shootermcbob Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 At this point, the only "fair" thing to do is crown LSU national champs...they are the ONLY undefeated team left, and have certainly played a difficult schedule. EVERY other Ranked team has lost one game. Quote
lazeebum Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I dread foosball season being over, the lake gets crowded when bama ain't on tv. Add to that- ROLL TIDE! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I dont understand how people say that every game counts except for the "Game of the Century". Sure it counted. If OSU would have handled thier business against Iowa St. we wouldnt be having this conversation. If OSU was in the title game then you could say, "Every game counts, oh, except that OSU vs Iowa St. game." OSU was in the driver seat and screwed it up. Shame on them...not the BCS. Quote
