Red Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 It is in the low 60's right now, we have had drizzly rain off and on all day. Late tonight the wind is going to switch to the north and temps are going to drop into the upper 40's by sun up. Yesterday morning the water temp was in the low 50's. I will be fishing while this front is blowing in tomorrow morning, looks like some more light rain coming with it. The lake is 8-10 low, most of the timber is on dry land. I plan to put in to one of the major creeks and fish it towards the back. I plan to start with a buzzbait, jerkbait and a jig. What would you be doing in this situation? I would wear warm, comfortable clothing, have a good rain jacket available, get a big ars cup of coffee, 2 dozen donut holes and enjoy my time on the water. If you're lucky, you will be fishing pre-frontal conditions, which should actualy turn the fish on. My experience tells me fish usualy turn off a day or two once the front arrives. I think you have the right bait choices. I'd use a jig, spinnebait, and cranbait/jerkbait, such as the Pointer Minnow. If the front has already arrived and gave the fish lock jaw, then I would concentrate with the jig and more than likly a T-rig worm. I would fish the jig TIGHT to structure and keep it in the strike zone as long as possible. Let the jig just lie there and give it the slightest little movements. You might also want to concentrate on the west shore since it will warm up quicker. Quote
Red Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Thanks Bassn Blvd. I just checked the weather again. Looks like it is going to be a bit more windy and warmer than I originally thought. So apparently I will be fishing pre-frontal conditions. I already have a Pointer rigged up in a nice natural shad color painted by Cliff Logue from the tacklemaking section. The only problem I see is if it is raining (80%) too hard I won't be able to go, my Pelican fills up quick! I will let y'all know how it goes. Cliff Quote

Just woke up a few minutes ago and my boat has about 4 inches of water in it, still raining and supposed to continue all day. I am not complaining though, we need this rain badly. Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 4, 2011 Super User Posted December 4, 2011 Aw, too bad. There's nothing worse than soggy donut holes . Buy a 20 dollar bilge pump and a 5 foot piece of hose. Throw the pump in the bottom of the boat and hook the wires to your T/M battery. It's portable and problem solved. 1 Quote
