Motorguide Gatormount Stuck In The Down Position!

So I banged up against the dock due to high winds this morning, and pulling on the chord does not allow the motor to come up. I had remove the motor from the mount and lay it on the front deck. Is there a release pin I can trip to get it in back in the stow position?

Thanks guys. The moount is fairly new, spring assist. 36v Digital trolling motor.

Usually situations like that are caused by the mount itself being in a bind due the mount surface not being completely flat.

Did you break the pull cord?

Loosen two of the mount bolts to get it out of that bind and see if it will release.

Part two: there is a hole in the mount arm about 1" in diameter. Inside that hole you should see the knot of the pull rope. That part of the rope is tied to a metal loop. You can use a Phillips screw driver as a lever in that loop to help pull the lock pin out of the mount base slots. The lock pin has to move towards the boat bow to release.

I edited the lock pin statement to bow instead of transom. It moves towards the transom to release it when stowed.

So I just had something similar happen my cord broke, but I’m able to use pliers to pull the cord. The mount starts to come up but seems like something is bent because it only goes half way. So my mount is stuck in the down position. I don’t know if this is something similar to your situation or if I bent something.
