NO.

Our guys will help you and answer your questions. Sometimes they

offer gear to members, but asking twice for a handout doesn't cut

it.

On the other-hand, I'm a soft touch. Send me a PM and I will send

you some stuff, but don't ask again.

Tomorrow this thread will be deleted and don't post it again.

Dang!!!  Too bad this will be gone.

We had a principal in high school who was a very stern, no nonsense, administrator.  But, once you got to know him, under that veneer, he was really a softie.

The above post made me think of him.

I've had some teachers like that.

Aha! My pet peeve is here. You're all going to be subject to my teenager stereotype rant. Just because someone is X years old doesn't make his actions excusable. Begging is impolite no matter what the age. Spelling is another thing...  >;). It takes you maybe TWO to THREE extra minutes to make sure your grammar and spelling are good. Now if you don't have a English professors grammar; that's fine. I do think however; you should at least make some semblance of a try for good English. No one is going to take improperly or poorly written posts seriously! You are not txting your friends! If your going to ask for something at least make it readable.

(Most (some) of you know I'm fourteen, so this teenagers not be able to write a readable sentence gets me worked up  :))

I usually avoid critiquing another's spelling or grammar, with one exception.  I do it when someone criticizes another's spelling while they have a few mistakes of their own.

An, not a should precede English.  txting ?  Did you mean texting?  The your which is highlighted should be you're which is the contraction for you are, not the possesive "your".

You are wrong about no one will take it seriously.  This is a fishing forum, and while the ability to express yourself well is important, it is not the be all and end all on a fishing forum.

I take everyone's posts seriously.  Their grammar has nothing to do with it.  While they can be cumbersome and difficult to read, the person writing may be the nicest, kindest, most thoughtful and compassionate person in the world.

I much prefer a person of integrity who cannot express themselves well to a slick, smooth talking huckster.

Gary my friend, what you have generated a lot of negative responses due to a simple misunderstanding of etiquette on your part. It is not polite to beg and/or use your young age as a reason that you deserve something for free.

I've been working with young men of your age for a little longer than you have been alive and I understand where you are coming from. You feel that due to your age you are restricted buy lack of fishing funds and are limited in how you can earn the money needed to buy even the simplest of lures. I know it sucks. I used to be there. When I was your age I fished every chance I could get. I had no money and my dad couldn't help me. So I started to work. I got my dad's push mower and started knocking on my neighbors doors. I charged 10 bucks a lawn and on the first weekend I earned 50 bucks and went and bought my first bass rod and reel. From there I would slowly fill a small tackle box with worms, hooks and sinkers and for the next four years that's what I fished with. There is one thing that you have now that I wish I had then. That is the Internet. If you truly want to be a pro-bass fisherman then you should get involved with this forum and read as many of the articles and advice that is already on this site. Don't worry about having the best tackle yet. Just buy what you can afford and fish with what you have. Be patient and good things will happen. It may take you years of fishing from the bank and using just one rod and a few lures before you increase your tackle collection. But there is nothing stopping you from increasing your knowledge. So jump on in and enjoy the ride.

OK. I can't resist.

I want everyone's extra tackle that you haven't used in the last 8 months. I will make good use of your tackle. You aren't using it. It may begin to go bad before you use it again. If you haven't used it by now then you have too much tackle and need to lighten the load. Send it to me. I guarantee that I will use it. The fish are asking for different tackle than what I am offering them. That tackle will help me catch more fish. When I catch a fish with you tackle I will tell everyone that I got the tackle from you. :)

There. How was that? I was assertive and confident. I explained who I wanted it from. A time frame for sorting out the tackle. Why you should give it to me. Why I want it. I even offered something in return. No begging. No sob story. Thats worth a crank or two. Maybe some of them pink wormys I keep hearing about! ;D

So who's sending me their extra stuff?!?!? :)

I even added smileys to add some emotion to it!!!

Just for clarification I was kidding. I'm in a good mood. That is unless you are really going to follow through and send me the stuff you haven't been using. Then I'm not kidding! ;)

well, in that case- here's my sotry.

i'm broke as hell, am working for a company that is about to go under. i ran over my rod/ reel (st croix with an abu garcia baitcaster) setup 3 weeks ago, and dropped my tackle box into the river and have rusted all my hooks. cant afford a new rod, or even new hooks. and have been using my wifes $15 shakespere rod for the past two weeks. oh, BTW its pink. and guess what, youngin?

none of that crap that happend to me bothers me enough to come onto a forum and beg for new gear. enjoy the stuff you get from here, these guys are truly amazing.

I don't have any room to rag you because I have asked guys here for donations for a foundation that I am setting up to use fishing events to raise money to help others. I will agree with what others have said here, begging is not the way to get anything in most cases. Ask the right questions (try to think it through before you post) and there are an incredible amount of amazing anglers here that will be happy to help you any way they can, myself included. Post your questions about tackle making in the tackle making section of this forums and there will be many guys and gals with lots of experience willing to give you advice and, or help. I am far from being a professional at anything here but I have learned much just by reading the posts that people have put on here. There is a wealth of knowledge available for you at BR. Don't ever be scared to ask for an answer or help if you need it. I for one will be there if I can to give you the answer or the help that you need.

I cut grass this summer and made decent money.  Charge 20 to 30 bucks a lawn and cut out the professional lawn guys.  Since your not making a living, you can do that. If a lawn is larger, obviously charge more than that.  I will charge 20 dollars up to about a 1/2 acre.  After that, i look at it and write a price on my flyer and leave it.  Make sure you do a good job though.  The lawns will come.  You will get a few by word of mouth.  If you do this, you will have more than enough money to by fishing equipment(maybe..... lol).
