Final report for the day...

Me and traveler boated 5 fish off of some ledges. 4 were about 2lbs or a lil more. The other one could have used as a trailer on my spinnerbait haha.

I had a great time on the trip. I was able to meet and fish with old friends and do the same with new ones. Those are the reasons I come back every year. My only complaint is that I established my PW (Personal Worst.) Five consecutive days with not so much as a bite.

Ick stuck a good one!

Long Mike, I will tell you that Zip Pow brought up at least 4 times in the half day we fished how upset he was that he didn't get you on fish.At least you made a bunch of new friends and had a great time! Next year will be YOUR year on the road trip!!

I made it home, ...............finally. It seemed like a forever drive. I'm in full Zombie mode today. If I can muster up the energy, I will wash and vacuum the boat, then put it in the garage and give it a good coat of cleaner glaze followed by a coat of wax, apply a coat or two of Armorall on the rubrail and clean the seats with a vinyl cleaner. Check the tire pressures, wheel lube, and be ready to do some fishin' around here.

It was a great time. Had a great time fishing with many different members. The weather fought us every step of the way, but the social activities, from the soiree to the Alpster cajun dinner were great.

Looking forward to next year's shindig.

2012 Road Trip

IMHO, I think the Bass caught wind that Bass Resources members had blown into town and they ran for cover. LOL

I think we had two cold fronts move through the area with one bringing some rain and sleet that I was caught in; and wind and wind and wind… We had so much wind (how much was it?) we couldn’t tell which way it was coming from, in fact I got a wind advisory on my cell phone that reported “wind gust up to 40 mph possible”.

I had a great time meeting everyone; it was a bit overwhelming putting both screen names and real names with so many new faces. Thanks for making a new guy feel so welcome. I think they made me a member of the “Old Farts Club”; I was fishing with four rod/reel combo’s older than some members.

I didn't know what to expect but Ghoti's wine and cheese soirée turned out to be a home run; the spread was amazing, and other members added refreshments to the table as well, even a couple of Mason Jars of homemade liquid. Zip Pow brought in the freshest, sweetest, fruit platter I've had in a long time. When Keri and Glenn dropped in they were loaded down with boxes of freebees, cameras, and luggage just in from the west coast. They gave everyone an embroidered Bass Resource 7th Annual Road Trip fishing towel with attached and laminated big bass rules; they then laid out a table load of gifts from our sponsors, i.e. Rage Tail baits, Snag Proof Frogs, Water Gremlin sinker assortments. I’m probably forgetting someone cause I haven’t fully unpacked yet.

When all was said and done at the end of the evening, Ghoti still had enough food to offer us a takeaway lunch for the next day!

Sunday, we all piled into cars and headed to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner. Even though it was Sunday in a dry town we still had a good time chatting and enjoying a good meal. Now if the Bass were this friendly and easy to meet we’d all have a great week.

Then on Monday Roadwarrier stepped up to the plate to hit the second home run with his burgers and all the fixings. RW can really fire up a grill full of good eat’n, the burgers were out of this world! And while he was slaving over a hot grill, the rest of us had a good chance to chat and become better acquainted; the weather may have been cool but everyone was warm hearted, friendly and had a good time.

Wednesday saw another dinner (you starting to see a theme here?) together at the Top O’ The River restaurant. I played it safe and went with their signature Catfish dinner. 2012 Bassmaster Classic winner Chris Lane & his son joined us and Chris presented a nice talk on his past carrier and what his Classic win means to him; he then opened the floor to Q&A from the members.

Then it was Glenn’s turn. He told us of the “Tackle the Storm Foundation” and how it’s trying to help give kids some relief and normalcy from the reality of having their life arbitrarily torn to shreds by a storm. Some of these kids have lost everything dear to them, such as family members, their home, friends, pets, community. If the Foundation can give these kids a peaceful & enjoyable day on the water it could help in some small way to help relieve some of their stress in coping with their tragedy. We then took a break while Roadwarrier worked his butt off selling raffle tickets as fast as he could count off the tickets. Riskkid2 chipped in to help RW by breaking up the stubs. You’ll have to see my photo of the table holding the prizes, there were just too many to describe like jackets, rods, sets of items, and so on.

Thursday saw Alpster drive in a winning run with his Cajun Jambalaya. Let me tell you, the aroma he whipped up in that pot was simply heavenly. It made my stomach growl in anticipation, I must have been Cajun in a past life and this was a taste of home cook’n. RW helped out by grilling up a mess of smoked sausage that topped off the Jambalaya. I tell ya it don’t get any better than this!

I’d like to quote 00Mod here with a BIG thank you to everyone who made this Road Trip possible, and the success it was

“00Mod - A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO:

BIG O FOR ALL OF THE RAGE TAIL BAITS AND HATS TO EVERYONE ATTENDING

SNAGPROOF FOR ALL OF THE FROGS FOR EVERYONE AS WELL

WATER GREMLINFOR ALL OF THE WEIGHTS FOR EVERYONE AS WELL

SIEBERT OUTDOORS AND BITE IT BAITS FOR DONATING RAFFLE PRIZES TO BE WON

GLENN AND KERI FOR PUTTING SUCH A GREAT COMMUNITY TOGETHER AND HAVING SUCH A FUN TRIP!!!"

NOTE:

If you haven’t made it to a Road Trip, you’ve got to plan for next year’s event. You will not regret it - and you will have a great time!!

Traveler, you hit the nail on the head. Everything was done great. It was my first and had a blast. The "Soreh/sorerear/sorererererrerer", the BBQ, the raffle, meeting Chris Lane, and Alpsters jambalaya and gumbo (AMAZING JOB RONNIE!) were all great.

As some of you may know, I am BassResource taught. I went out with my grandparents a few times to catch bluegills but that was the extent of my fishing experience. Other than that, I had nobody to teach me bass fishing. The majority of everything I know comes from this site. And coming to this roadtrip and getting to meeting Glenn, Keri, and the rest of you fishing fools that, have pretty much been my teachers in my passion for fishing, was awesome. This was the most fun I have had in a long time, and I plan on making next year's roadtrip to where ever it is, and every single one after it.

Awesome reports and pics! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Keri and I had a blast! A lot of work and planning goes into this by everyone involved, and everything went off without a hitch! The dinners and events were simply awesome. And we thoroughly enjoyed meeting old friends and making new ones.

I could easily write a book detailing this year's event, but I don't have that kind of time. So let me just add to the other reports a huge thanks to

  • Mike (WMD in Kentucky) and Mike (Long Mike) for loaning us their boats;
  • Ghoti, Alpster, and RoadWarrior for loaning us rods, reels, and tackle;
  • Chris at Tech, Scorcher214, Long Mike, and Fishin Rhino for fishing with us and/or taking us fishing;
  • RoadWarrior, Long Mike, and Alpster for fantastic grub;
  • RoadTrip coordinators Long Mike, Alpster, and Zip Pow for all their hard work;
  • Ghoti, Chris Lane, and Siebert Outdoors for donating rods for the raffle (Chris even autographed his!);
  • Siebert Outdoors for donating a jig assortment for the raffle
  • Don Barone for donating autographed raffle items from top pros including KVD
  • Chris Lane for donating Tony Chachere's spices for the raffle
  • Chris Lane for visiting us on Wednesday;
  • and our sponsors RageTail, Water Gremlin, Snag Proof, and Bite It Baits for donating tons of products for us to sample and try out!

I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences and stories, as there are many. But in case anyone was wondering.....

It LIVES!!!!

Guys I don't know how to some it up. All I can say is after a long drive to bama I was tired and stressed out from traffic, but as soon as I walked in the hotel to see Long Mike and the guys i had a smile on the rest of the week. Each night and morning we all had a great time together. I was stressed I didn't bring a boat but I shouldn't have been. I had a ride each day and offers for more if I needed it. Traveler was a AWESOME room mate and WMD was great at our little trip to Pickwick as well.. I cant wait to go there at out next Roadtrip!! HINT HINT! :pray:

Hey Mike, what vintage was that wine? Wednesday or Thursday? :computer-11::hahaha-024:

  • Super User

Don't be silly Ghoti! That wine is made in Antarctica from the hard to grow "crisp white" grape. It is then made into powder form and shipped to the US by boat. Once stateside, it is a "just add water" recipe that makes it so inexpensive!!!!

I ask if it came in "red"?

Mike said, "Sure, they just add dye or make it from grapes".

Sorry Mike. I had to pay you back for trying to drown me Sunday. LOL

I had a great RoadTrip, except for the catching part. I was only there until Tuesday morning. I left before the weather became civilized.

The SNW&CS was pretty good this year. Had a good turn-out, and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

I need to thank zip pow for the deluxe fruit tray, and for his peach flavored "corn wine". Thank you Brandon. I had to force myself to stay away from whatever that cheese dish was in the middle. It was top shelf. If you can get me a recipe, I'd be in your debt.

Actually, we are all in debt to Brandon. he did a lot of legwork making this trip happen. Thank you, sir.

Thanks to WMD. He brought some good wine and some munchies to add to the spread. Thanks Mike.

Thanks to 00mod. He contributed a large bottle of chard. That made Keri's trip better. He also hooked me up with a case of my wife's favorite wine, at a nice discount. Thanks Jeff. I owe you one.

Made some new friends this trip too.

Ick was my room-mate while I was there. What a lousy name for one of the good guys. We have a surprising amount of stuff in common. I'll see you again Jim.

00mod. I know I'll see you again too. Maybe on the White River with Hotdawg.

Chris at Tech. Didn't get to fish with this guy, but we did have dinner together. Another one of the good guys. Hope to see you next time.

Scorcher214 I got to fish with him and Glenn. Good times and good company. Andrew, I expected to meet somebody older. That's a compliment young man. See ya next year.

Traveler2586 Nice meeting you Eric. Next time maybe we'll wet a line together.

Riskkid2 Not a new friend, but an old one I thought was gone. Great to see you again Carl. Don't disappear again on us.

As usual, I neglected my duties as a photographer. Not a real loss, as I am one the worst picture takers in existence. I'll forward the few pics I took, just as soon as I find my camera, that is.

When's the next trip? Can we all get together again; next week maybe?
