Simp Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hasn't Alabama had enough tornadoes? I feel sorry for the good southern folk of the area. For we are the sign of the coming apocalypse. Winds will howl snow will fall and floods will wash out the crops. Now if these things don't come to pass we must check our roster of attendees and ban who didn't make it this year for he is the responsable party. I'm looking at you long Mike! Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 1, 2011 Super User Posted December 1, 2011 What Long Mike said goes for me. I'll be there if at all possible. "bout time. I've been watching for this announcement for a couple of months. Quote
scrutch Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I'll probably be there as long as the warden lets me out again this year. I've been good, so she should (I hope). I'll probably be looking for someone to jump in my truck and share the expenses too. (Lund Explorer, Otey, Uncle Leo, or anyone else interested that doesn't have a peanut sized bladder may apply). It's about 10 hours from my house. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted December 1, 2011 Super User Posted December 1, 2011 I'm going to be there if I don't have any guiding jobs. I can't afford to make reservations and then cancel them so I'll need to find a campground close by. Quote
JigMe Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I am going to try to make it to this event, how’s the fishing arragement made? For someone who doesn’t own a Bass boat, do we just pair up with someone or rent? Quote

For someone who doesn’t own a Bass boat, do we just pair up with someone or rent? Lee, historically we have always had more empty boat seats than butts to put in them. Don't worry about not having a boat. We try to move the non-boaters around so that they have a chance to fish with as many people as possible. Among other things, we use the Registration form to determine who has seats available and who needs them. Quote
bighed Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow, I could hit the Stroker rally at Nickajack and then an hour away be with the BR crew on Guntersville. Awesome!!! I'll make this one if at all possible!!! Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted December 2, 2011 Super User Posted December 2, 2011 12 hour drive, plus hotel, plus food... We shall see how my income fares. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 2, 2011 Super User Posted December 2, 2011 12 hour drive, plus hotel, plus food... We shall see how my income fares. I'm retired. It's a twelve hour drive, plus round-trip fuel for my Suburban, plus fuel for the boat, plus hotel, plus food, plus the booze, plus the dancing girls. I will take out a second-mortgage on my house before I have to miss this trip. The annual BR trip Rocks! Quote

I don't think a few boxes of wine will make much of a dent in your savings but the heart medicine for when the dancing girls arrive will be the killer for you old friend. Quote
zip pow Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I'm going to be there if I don't have any guiding jobs. I can't afford to make reservations and then cancel them so I'll need to find a campground close by. The State park is about ten minutes away from Val Monte and by then they'll be open for camper here's there number 256-571-5455 if you can't get them pm me i'll help anyway I can Quote

Super User Lund Explorer Posted December 2, 2011 Super User Posted December 2, 2011 Got a few scheduling conflicts to work out, but I'm going to try. As far as cost goes, does anybody want to match what it would cost me to leave the War Dept home this year? The old girl doesn't have many vacation days left for her year(Sep - Aug) which is going to be issue #1. On top of that, you guys already know she outfished me last year hawg wise, so you can try to match the ration of **** I'll get for leaving her at home! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 2, 2011 Super User Posted December 2, 2011 Try to bring a friend or hook up with another member in your area so you can split some costs. Overall, four or five days of fishing shouldn't be more than $600-$700 or so. Shared lodging $50/day X 5 = $250 Alabama fishing license $46 Food $20 X 5 $100 Gas (?) $100 Minimum cost ~$500 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 2, 2011 Super User Posted December 2, 2011 Poor Long Mike, crying poverty. He's got an alarm system on his boat that makes Fort Knox green with ***. Heck, it probably cost more than it would to replace his "tin can". Alas, love has no price tag. Nothing is too good for his "baby". Quote
