Super User slonezp Posted January 4, 2012 Super User Posted January 4, 2012 J Franco, I know you can differentiate the male and female of the salmonoids by the jaw. Extends past the eye it's a male if it doesn't it's a female. Would you or anyone else know if that applies to other fish species? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 4, 2012 Super User Posted January 4, 2012 Some yes, others no. Some, there's no physical difference. I don't use it for our trout. I go be mouth shape, body shape, as well as mouth to tell, outside of the spawning runs. During the spawn, the kype jaw is a tell tale sign it's a male. Quote
