12eal1ty Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Anyone ever try this out? Picked one up because it looked interesting. Sorta is like a buzz bait with a popper IMO. Tired it out for a bit just to see how it is in the water and I actually kinda like it but I didn't get any bites. Let me know what you guys think if you have tried it. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat600082-cat20344&id=0018747117471a&navCount=10&podId=0018747&parentId=cat20344&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=2UG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233 Oh yeah there is a blade like a buzz bait in the front of it but its not in the picture for some reason. Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 They need better hooks. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 I have these in every size and color too. I would try it in the early mornings and late evenings as the sun goes down and the topwater bite increases. Stay trying it sooner or later you will figure it out and it will work. You need to figure out what presentation to use too at that time. Stay with that one lure and practice presentations with it and you maybe surprised what happens when you get it right. There's no trick just fish it and practice with it. We know the fish are there its figuring out the presentation. I have spent a lot of $$ buying up all different kinds of lures to test out and see if they work or not since i have the time to fish everyday being retired. I'm slowly finding out they all work sooner or later. Quote
12eal1ty Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Do you like the weed guards? From my short experience they seem to work ok but I wouldn't throw it into anything too weedy. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 They work better in the box!! I tried them, I switched out those cheap hooks, the one Arbogast that I didn't like in the long run :-[ Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 10, 2009 Super User Posted August 10, 2009 Mine are older versions without weedguards, I did remove the stock hooks and put new ones. Can 't complaint about them I 've caught a lot of fish with them ( the three are preatty chewed ) but not by reeling in them steadily ( like a buzzbait ), I fish them more like a Torpedo ( jerk-jerk-stop ). Yeah thats pretty much how I was fishing it too. Love torpedoes! Quote
Muddy Water Master1301600203 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 when i fished this i couldn't even get the blade to spin like a buzzbait. i love the idea of it, a buzzbait u can stop. it just seems like it has to b fished like a slushbait or torpedo. has potential tho. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 They are good lures but have more of a propbait action than a buzzbait. Quote
