Stick-O Vs. Senko

I know this has been asked before... Help me out here Gentleman. Please tell me that I can use the BPS Stick-O instead of going through my Senko's like water and paying an arm and a leg to replace them. I know, I know, nothing replaces a Senko... or does it? Is it just that we are so enthralled with the Senko because it was the first of its kind? Has someone truly put the Stick-O to the test and found that they have seen no difference in their catching ability? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I have a lot of both...maybe it's a mental thing, but I do like Yamamoto's decidedly better. I think they give better action to be honest, and thus look more appealing to the fish. Also, they seem to last a bit better than my Stick-O's from BPS. When I wacky rig it with the O-ring, I probably need a new Senko after 6-7 fish, whereas I'll need a new one with the BPS after about 2-4.

Who knows though; for the difference in price, I'll probably take Stick-O's (got 104 pieces in all different colors for $15 from BPS, one bag of 10 from Yamamoto is $7). However, if I was fishing tourneys, was sponsored, and wasn't paying for it...I'd obviously take the Senko.

One thing to make sure of; especially if you fish wacky rig; the O-ring IS A MUST. You will see WAY more life out of a pack of 10 Senko's than if you don't use the O-ring.

I figure most people use it anyway, but if not, YOU HAVE TO if you're worried about always losing the worm after a bite or two. Period.

I have used sev eral of the knock-offs and don't see any difference in durability catch rate but when the bite gets tough I still go back to the Yamamoto original.

I use Stick-os most of the time. They have been very productive for me. I do buy Senkos when they are on sale and use them at times. My personal opinion is there is not much difference, but there is some. Sometimes a little difference is a big deal...

I only tried a knock off once, and they floated. I never bothered trying any others since the original did what I wanted it to do, namely sink, and why waste my time and money on searching for the perfect replacement.

Yum Dingers are a good option. Slightly narrower but pretty darn close to same wiggle on the fall. Tiki Sticks are good too, good action and slightly slower fall rate. Dick's usually has Senkos 2/$10.00 in the spring and I just bought a bunch at Gander Mtn. for $4.99 per. For Wacky rigging, I've been using Dingers more and more and for T-Rigging, Senkos or Tiki Sticks based on fall rate desired. If you can find Senkos on sale, load up. They are getting outrageous. But bottom line is they work.

I have tried lots of the knock offs, but I still come back to the Senco. Cost doesn't hurt my feelings if I am catching fish. But buying knock off after knock off that don't work and sit around my garage is pointless in my book.

I like the Big Bite Baits ***, I can get a 25 pack at academy for about $7.

I use Stick-O just because they are a little more "stiffer" and when I Texas rig them with a EWG 4/0 and no weight....they fall perfectly straight with a slight wiggle. They work better than Senkos for me and you get 18 in a pack for half the price.

BTW.....green pumpkin magic is the best for me. I can catch fish anytime of the year with those.

There is a difference. Senkos weigh more than most of their competition and have a faster sink rate, and that's significant when you're fishing them. The only brand I know that is really similar is the Wacko from Wacky Worm. There may be others but I haven't weighed them. If you use something else and catch fish, there's nothing to complain about. But when times are tough, I'd rather be throwing the original or a Wacko.

I think it is *** that I bought a BUNCH from. They are great. One of the best alternatives.

Cheap too.

My other choice for an alternative is Snack Daddy Lures, stick bait. But not exactly common in lots of areas. Still, they have a few colors I can't find from anyone else.

I have never used any of the brand name sticks. I make my own and can control color and sink rate with the amount of salt.

Stick-0 gave me my PB. 8.9 Lb at the second BR Roadtrip at Lake Fork. Guess which I use.

I use the BPS stick-o and have had great success with it. I fish the 4" version on a shakeyhead alot and the smallmouth around here love it. They are pretty dense and sink pretty quickly also. Plus you can catch them on sale for 3 bags for $10 and load up on them like I do every spring

I throw both the stick-o and the senko.... I do not feel there is a difference other than softness of the lure. When I see gary is on sale, I get a bunch. I bought the stick-o first when i was in a bps and they were dirt cheap, so I bought two packs. Those two packs have not been gone through yet, and the bag of watermellon candy has been VERY productive to me, I would say they have produced as much as any color senko I have through. The baby bass stick-o...not so much. LIke the flake count in both. LIke the shape in both. Like the smell and salt of the stick o better. Both have lots of color options and like their variety.

I actually spent some time watching both fall on the lake this weekend. The stick o appeared to wiggle on the fall just like a senko with a very similar fall rate. The softness (which I think is a big factor) is a biggest difference by far.

Also to be fair, I pretty much exclusively fish either weightless and texas rigged..... so in that situation I find performance to be near identical. If you were wacky rigging I would think the stick-o might be quite a bit stiffer than a gary.

In colder waters, might some want less wiggle in a wacky rig? Might the more subtle shake be better?

I like both and will continue to throw both. Will always welcome tips on sales on either, so that can keep feeding the bait monkey and keep trying new colors and loading up.

I like the Senco better. I use the Black/blue flake 5'' Senco. The BPS ones are 5-3/8'' & have a LOT more flake. Don't get me wrong they work god but I think the Senco catches more fish & thats worth the extra price to me...

I have had really good response from the fish in my area with the gander mountain brand of stik worm this past summer. More like the senko than the yum dinger or stik-o, and way cheaper.

Here try this-- two o-rings crossed over each other put hook through the overlap point but not into the senko. Ive caught 12 bass on one senko and 8-9 bass many times this way. Grainger or Fastenal have 0-rings $3 per 100
