So work has basically been screwing me lately.

I got to work, and my assistant manager asks me why i'm late. I said I wasn't late, I work 5-8 today, I looked yesterday and took a picture. I looked at the schedule and they changed me from 4-8 overnight. They're gonna ask me why i'm late when you changed me schedule and didn't even bother to call me? What's wrong with you? This has happened at least 3 times since I started work in early October. And they should of atleast bought me dinner today, before they (insert expletive here) me. I was on ovens, so I take them out, cut them, and put them in the corresponding box on the shelf. They're supposed to be in order so I can pizza, box, pizza, box, pizza, box etc fast so the oven doesn't get backed up and pizzas dont fall of the conveyor onto the floor. But no, they had them all out of order, and then didn't even have whole orders up there. So needless to say, I had five different orders, all with just the first item, on the station where drivers grab the boxes to deliver. So the drivers couldn't deliver anything untill after 20 minutes of me telling people what to do. And of course, half the time the people responsible for making the pizzas forgot to even make the right pizzas, none-the-less even make them! And yet they had the nerve to blame this all on me. How about every one else gets there head out of there butts, gets off facebook, and does their job. I literally did enough work for 3 people, and now I have chest pain from stressing so much.

It must run in pizza chains My wife works for Pizza Hut and they do the same. They even went and rescheduled her to work on her day off and she just so happen to check it the day before. My wife problem she don't complain to much when the tips are being made but she is the only waitress for her store in Bowling Green. They got 4 shift managers, 5 cooks but she is the only waitress and she does the cut table(manager's job) phone, and even cooks when need too.

I'm proud of my wife been there over 6 months ever since I got layed off she went out and got a job and been there since. Sadly I'm still home unemployed doing the house cleaning and taking care of our son when gets home from school.

If they are changing the schedule while you aren't there and not calling you to tell you and then holding you responsible for being late then you should call the HR department. If they end up taking disciplinary action for you being late on multiple occasions then you need to be on the record first.

Once you realize it's all your fault, life will go much smoother.

Restaurant business is a very stressful industury and I wouldn't wish it upon anybody. I have worked in restaurants as a contractor for about 15 years and have seen it all. If it's so bad quit and get another job, but you'll find out that unskilled labor jobs are very similar. If it's not so bad that you can deal with it learn from your experience. It will make you a better person.

Oh, and they're not screwing you, they are covering up there own mistakes.

Happened to me at Kmart. I wrote my schedule down one night and then I didn't have to work for the next 3 days. I showed up on the 4th date "late". Been there, done that. The 70 years old grumpy manager was there at time I showed up "late" and he said, "why are you late?" I said, "why didn't anyone notified me of schedule change?" He just mumbled and walked away. Situations like this, is why I think I make a better manager. Communications.

This used to happen to a guy I worked with. What he did is he took a picture the night before, then when the manager asked why he was late he showed him the picture.

Dan makes a good point about being on record, especially in a corporate structure. In reality the "man" is always right, whether he/she is or not, especially if they is sign checks and give evaluations for performance and attitude.

Yes, it was written in jest. It's kind of an inside joke amongst my coworkers and myself. We all are very diligent, hard-working employees. That statement evolved from the "under-sell and over-deliver" slogan.

I work for a very large corporation that prides itself on sucking every bit of "company-man" out of you and discards you like trash, then moves on to the next naive college grad wanting to climb the corporate ladder.

It's all about self preservation. In the end, you still need to feed your family.
