bigtimfish Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Well on the 27th of last month I ordered 6 dd22's and 3 dd14's they had them on sale. I got a email saying the chrome and black dd22 I ordered was on back order. So I called them and asked if I could just change my order to a different color. I was then informed that it was in stock. So long story short the 1 single dd22 that was in question is the ONLY one that I have recieved. Where are my other 8????? I am REALLY starting to hate to do business with them. TW has my orders to me in less than a week.I called them and the lady said give it until saturday. She gave me a $5 credit on my next purchase. GEE THANKS. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 She gave me a $5 credit on my next purchase. GEE THANKS. Sounds like the last time I ordered with them. It took them two days just to pack two crankbaits. WTH?? She offered me $5.00 off of shipping for my next order. I told her 'don't hold your breath'. Quote
chromedog Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 There shipping has gotten horrible. Â If I need something they have, I order it and pay for expedited shipping or just go to my local BPS. Â Otherwise, Tackle Warehouse is the place I order from. Â Quick and reliable! Quote
70kw Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 BPS online sucks. Its online software has a bug which over-charges online orders with coupon. I have been over-charged by the same bug three times this year. I reported the bug through online assistance and phone. They never fix it. Looks like they don't care at all. > > > > I gave up on BPS. Tackle Warehouse is my online store. Quote
Mark J Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I have a note to myself to slam my hand in the car door before I order form those turkeys again....The whole shipping rate by the dollar amount of your order has to go...I don't appreciate people profiting off of my shipping charge. Quote

I could not agree more! I have always hated the shipping methods of BPS! If i order $50 worth of plastics i get charged like i am receiving a crate!!!!! Quote
adclem Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Yeah BPS is terrible. Ordered some stuff from them for their 6 payment promo and it took 3 days to ship my items. That is crazy! Then I had to pay outrageous shipping costs and sales tax because I live in MO. Tackle Warehouse on the other hand, is AWESOME! Later, Quote
21farms Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 BPS online sucks. Its online software has a bug which over-charges online orders with coupon. I have been over-charged by the same bug three times this year. I reported the bug through online assistance and phone. They never fix it. Looks like they don't care at all. > > > > hey, same here! the order summary shows the $20 coupon being taken off but when my credit card bill arrives, it is for the full amount. worse, the order summary they email you shows NO PRICES or your order total. you better print the order summary before closing your browser or you're screwed. i feel sorry for those who don't notice the extra $20 or $30 per order on their credit card bills. i complained twice when this happened and they gave me some line about how i must be mistaken until i email them my printed order summary showing the discrepancy between what i should have been charged and what they actually charged me. i can't help but feel this is shady business practices...why else do they never let you see your order total ever again? they shipping is awful too...they use "smartpost" which is starts with UPS but then they pass it onto the USPS for final delivery...it is anything but smart and takes twice to three times as long as it should. TW gets ALL my business now. Quote
kbkindle Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 ups is not all we have to complain about  ups has a set rate to anyone and you can add as much postage  as you want  its up to the shipper. cabelas is worse they add the sales tax to your order reguardless what state you live in  like here in indiana its  7%  so we got the higher price goods + shipping and handling + sales tax  plus slow handling!!!!!!!! Quote

TW is 2 days at the most. BPS is usually 10-17 days and sometimes even longer (not backordered). Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted August 8, 2009 Super User Posted August 8, 2009 Everything I've ever ordered from is delivered within the week! Â I'm really suprised. Â I've place four or five orders with them this year alone, all delivered within a week. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 8, 2009 Super User Posted August 8, 2009 Yak should be on this thread anytime now, defending BPS. The best thing BPS ever did for me, was make me a Cabela's and Tackle Warehouse customer, never, ever again will i deal with BPS :-/ Quote
Incheon Basser Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I'll put it this way... I ordered a swim bait from BPS which when i looked at it said in stock. then after i buy it i get an email that says your item is back ordered.. then 2 months later .... Yes two stinking months later the call me and say the card you gave us doesn't work.. and i was like That's because in the two months that i have been waiting i changed banks... gave her the new card number and 2 weeks later it arrived... I then order the same swim bait From Tackle warehouse that says it's back ordered on the display screen and 7 days later it's at the door... What the heck .... I give two whoots for Tackle Warehouse.. And now with that special running spend 50 bucks get free shipping 5 dollar express and 10 dollar over night... I bought my Bucoo and the next day.. not two.. the next day it was at the door... what the heck BPS... You think for a company that started as a mail order store they would be Pro's at shipping stuff... They never offered me anything for making me wait 2 months for a swim bait... Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 8, 2009 Super User Posted August 8, 2009 I have never really had a bad experience from them and they pretty much do have the best selection around. Last time though it took them two days to ship my small order though. I got it in 4 days though with standard shipping. Their shipping is a bit high though. Quote
Super User CWB Posted August 8, 2009 Super User Posted August 8, 2009 Hate to break up the HateFest going on and although I do prefer Tackle Warehouse, I have yet to have a serious problem with BPS. When there is a problem they always rectify it in a manner that is more than acceptable. Shipping could be faster though. I think they use USPS whereas T.W. uses UPS. T.W. shipped my last order overnight at no extra charge. probably looked up how much I've spent with them over the last few years and felt sorry for me. Quote
MichBassMan Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 At one time BPS was my go-to place to buy online. Now they are my "last resort". Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted August 8, 2009 Super User Posted August 8, 2009 Now they are my "last resort". I got tired of their crap, they are not even considered anymore. Â Not even a "last resort". Quote
AndyPlaysDrums Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I feel the same way about Cabela's. I've ordered from them twice this year. Great deals on some half off items yes, but then with the shipping per amount spent, it's not worth it, since I'm lucky enough to have one within a half hour drive (which also means I get hit with the sales tax). However, both times that I've ordered something, while the actual shipping has been fairly quick to the store, the three or four days before it even leaves the warehouse is totally maddening. I'll go to their store to pick something up if I need it and they have it, but after all of your great recommendations, all my mail order is going to be with Tackle Warehouse and ***. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted August 9, 2009 Super User Posted August 9, 2009 Try supporting good, local, small independants. Â Instead of ordering through internet, I have my favorite independant order it for me. Â They can always get anything I want. Quote
bigtimfish Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 Well I talked to BPS again, Of course my cranks did not arrive. The lady is now telling me Monday. The order was placed on the 27th!!!!! Don't they ship from Missouri? I only live in southeast TX not Africa. NEVER AGAIN I don't care if they were $3 a piece NEVER AGAIN. Quote
21farms Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 good luck on your order. wanna hear something really strange about my BPS orders? mine always arrive on a tuesday. no matter what day of the week i place my order, it will arrive on a tuesday. the last 7-8 times in a row convinced me that it cannot be a mere coincidence. i wonder if i has something to do with their use of "smartpost". if anyone else is in northern california, i'd like to hear if that is also the case for you too. Quote
geckert Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Their shipping is horrible I took advantage of their 6 pay to buy a few new reels, a trolling motor and a few other things and it took 11 days for my stuff to get here..On top of that the trolling motor which was supposed to take longer to get here and it only took 5 days. Their online shipping is a joke. Quote
bigtimfish Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 Well, I found out where my cranks are. They are in the next town over from mine. I have to go pick them up myself. I can't get them until Fri because of my work schedule. How can a business like that send to the wrong town? Maybe it's ups fault. Quote

Everyone here must be hoping for a TW sponsorship or work there. There have been like 5 of these threads this summer. Both places work well for me, but I seem to have more back order issues at TW, although they do get it to me when they get it. BPS has a million more options though if you are looking for other stuff and they give you rewards points instead of 500 black Tshirts. TW is just that, a tackle place, specializing in little more than tackle, rods, and reels. BPS didn't become a giant for no reason, they offer everything under the sun for fishing, plus the entire hunting lines. Their branded fishing equipment is also of pretty high quality (i.e. Johnny Morris reel). Again, no issues with TW for the most part, but BPS is always a Go-To. Â TW isn't a fraction the company BPS is, there is alot more in an out at BPS. Â If and when TW becomes the size BPS is (doubtful) you will see the same problems. Â Classic example of this is Toyota. Â They had less demand and built good cars that lasted forever. Â Now demand went up and they can barely keep up with it. Â Now what?... you see Toyota slacking behind our domestic GM and Ford in overall quality and reliability... its getting there. Quote
