Rage Craw!!!!!! ....wow

So I have been throwing a YUM Mighty Bug for a while and it has performed very well. I usually Texas rig it and seem to pull fish evrytime I go out. Lately tho it hasn't performed since we have been getting cooler here in CA. I saw the Rage Craw and decided what the heck , I'll give it a try. We get out on the water around 1:45 so that means that I have roughly 3 hrs to get something in the boat. Well I throw the Mighty Bug for about 30minutes and nothing. My buddy throws a 7" worm and nothing as well. I rig the Rage Craw on a Texas rig and throw it out and BAMM!! Hook up. I throw it again and I miss the hook set. I throw it yet again and another hook up. I end up with 5 landed and several misses. My friend is baffled that he got skunked! We get back to the docks and all the other guys are saying how they were skunked and the fish werent biting...I just laughed and said yeah it was slow but I managed 5!! I am a firm believer in the Rage Tail products now.

A Rage Craw flipped into the water willows helped me win a couple wednesday night tournaments this summer. I don't know what it is but all they do is catch fish.

Thats exactly how I fish them...I flip all the emergent cover that I possibly can...even in the dead of winter. Gonna try them this winter and see if they stick a few. Pics to come I hope.

The rage craw is one awesome bait. After using it I tried the Eeliminator on a 4/0 Superline EWG hook and man oh man does that thing look sick on the retrieve. Just reel that sucker in reeeally slow and hold on.

What might surprise you is that Rage Tail offers baits for the entire water

column; a range of profiles and a variety of action. I fished with a guy on

the Roadtrip last year who didn't have any other lures in his boat! Dude seems

to consistantly catch more and bigger fish than anyone else on the forum. Just

can't recall his name...

Well I found the Space Monkeys and boat a few packs so I am going to try them out on Friday. I rigged a Rage Craw on as a trailer to a 3/4oz jig and man it fits like a glove. I will be throwing that to on Friday.

How do you guys rig the Rage Craw? I caught this little fellow a couple of Saturday's ago with a T-rgged Craw. But, the bullet weight kept sliding around. I did not have any tooth picks to keep the weight from moving. Maybe I'm missing something, but I would like to keep the weight from moving around.

More often than not I use them as a trailer for a skirted football jig, but sometimes I use them on an unskirted football jig. A lot of.people use a weighted stickbait hook. I believe this is called the rage rig. Next season Im going to try them on a darter head.

I never peg my weight when fishing the Craw Texas rigged (actually "texposed"). You want that weight slipping, can't really explain it but I think it has something to do with the weight sometimes falling ahead of the Craw adding a bit of a C-Rig action to the Craw. All I know is it works best unpegged. On the other hand. I fish the Craw on swimbait hooks and shaky heads also, doesn't seem to affect my catch ratio much. I believe if you throw them you will catch fish......no matter how you rig them or for that matter how you retrieve them. I've caught fish on the Craw rigged weightless and fished ultra slow to fast swimming it over submerged vegetation on a swimbait head. Just throw 'em......they catch fish!

Woody, I have fished the river extensively for going on two years now. The thing about the river is this: there are a LOT of different types of cover in the river, and most all of them hold fish. I'll keep this simple.

Around laydowns and other types of wood cover, you're most likely going to catch largemouth. I like a jig (Northstar Premier with the Alien head) for fishing the laydowns, and also a pegged t-rig. Weights will vary based on conditions, ie: fast moving, shallow water I fish a 3/8 or 1/2 oz. jig and a 1/4 oz. t-rig, but in slow moving, shallow water I will move down to a 1/4 oz. jig and/or an 1/8-1/4 oz. t-rig.

You'll usually catch the smallies around faster moving water with lots of rocks. You can do a lot of different things here, but for me, these two work best. In really fast moving water, a split-shot rig works best for me. I like to use a #2 Gamakatsu Drop/Split-shot hook and nose hook the bait. In (slower) fast moving water around rocks a 1/2 oz. football jig works extremely well.

As for the OP, Rage Craws have accounted for probably 60% of my fish over the past two years, and I have caught most of my bigger fish on them. I really like the other baits as well, and the Baby Thumper has caught some extremely nice fish for me as well given it's size.

Probably my favorite Rage Tail right now is the Eeliminator, though I won't be fishing it much more until the spring.

By the way, before I had ever fished a Rage Craw two years ago, my best day at any of my ponds was 18 fish, three of which were in the 3-4 pound range. The first day I fished a Rage Craw I caught a whopping 42 bass in 2 hours. Four of those fish were over four and one was 6.5. The bite was absolutely INSANE. I was catching them on Craws with one claw, no claws, etc. I eventually ran out and had to start using ones that were torn to shreds!
