bassking1976 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I know kvd makes some crankbaits that are highly regarded...saw that he came out with a frog, thats very attractive because its slightly cheaper 7.99 than the bronze eye just wondering if any one has tried it and if its worth a go Quote
RyneB Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I pretty much think everything that comes from Strike King will have the KVD name on it. At least if i was Strike King i would put KVD on everything and jack up the price. People will buy a piece of dog poo if it came in a nice package and had KVD on top. Quote
kLuo Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Haven't personally tried one yet because I refuse to buy into the KVD hype while there are so many quality frog alternatives out there. I have heard that these are ok, but they often land on their backs when you cast them. Those two reasons combined make it a deal breaker for me. Quote
bassking1976 Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 ok was not saying i wanted it because it was from kvd havent bought much kvd stuff as im a low budget fisherman love to frog fish and the bronze eye at 9.99 is breakin my wallet liked the 7.99 price but if they land on their backs that sucks Quote
RyneB Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 If you like frog fishing, get yourself a pack of rage toads for $5 and a BPS Kermy for $6. I can walk the kermy just as good as my spros. If you like fishing slop, get yourself a BPS XPS Lazer Eye floating mouse for $4. Ever since i started throwing this mouse in the slop, my frogs dont even make it into the boat most of the time. I prefer the white with red head, but throw whatever you have confidence in. Quote
basser89 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I've picked up a couple and was able to briefly try them out before the water temps dropped too low here. The only other frog I've used was the Bronze Eye and I've had good luck with them. Strike King's walk easier than Spro's IMO. As far as softness goes, Strike King's seems as soft as the Spro's. As I had said, I haven't thrown them much but I never had an issue with Strike King's filling up with water either. I can't comment on the hook up ratio yet since I haven't had any hits yet. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted November 18, 2011 Super User Posted November 18, 2011 The KVD stuff may be a little over-done by Strike King, but in my opinion the KVD cranks that I have seem to be decent baits for the money. KVD is a smart guy and as far as I know there are no low quality baits with his name on them. My guess is if the frogs have his name on them they too will be a decent product. I will give them a try. If anyone finds any of the KVD dog poo baits let me know, I would also like to try them. 1 Quote
