Sundance Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 As of now all my fishing is from the bank and iv been looking for a backpack style tackle bag but havn't really found much. What backpacks would you recommend? Quote
dman Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Backpack is the way to go....I got one for my shore fishing but now i dont leave by tackle in my boat, the backpack is what comes with me there too...I easily just reload it with what i need for wherever i am going. This is what i have: Calcutta backpack Mine is a couple years old and actually has 4 boxes and not three. Here is a new model just put out by Shimano, though a bit more expensive (these bags are worth it though for all the stuff you can comfortably carry around!) Shimano backpack at TW (wont let me post a link - hope this much is ok) Quote
Sundance Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 I found the shimano backpacks and like the large size but the price is a little high. I found a video on youtube when i was searching and found a review for a spiderwire backpack but havnt found it for sale anywhere. Quote
Super User Marty Posted November 16, 2011 Super User Posted November 16, 2011 Try Googling spiderwire backpack and you'll find sellers. Backpack is the way to go... To each his own. I greatly prefer a shoulder bag for easy one-hand access to whatever I need while holding a bass. Quote

guitarkid Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 check an army-navy store for an ALICE pack, they hold about 4 or 5 3700 boxes plus some extra room. -gk Quote
JigMe Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I have been using the cabalas’ XPS series backpack, http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Storage/Tackle-Bags%7C/pc/104793480/c/104777280/sc/104619780/Cabelas-XPGreg-Pro-Series8482-Angler-Pack/704805.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-tackle-storage-tackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104619780%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104777280&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104777280%3Bcat104619780 and it holds everything I need for a day of fishing trip but it is quiet large. If I was going out for few hours, then a fly fishing vest will do the trick. 1 Quote

I agree , a vest is the way to go , that's all I need when fishing from the bank , you'll be surprised with how much you can stuff in a vest. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted November 17, 2011 Super User Posted November 17, 2011 I use the BPS XPS Stalker Tackle Back Pack and can't say enough good things about it. Except the new color scheme. Blue and orange just looks bad. Quote
dman Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Fishponds makes great stuff: http://www.fishpondusa.com/packs.cfm Nice! i think i will be switching to a vest for my walk arounds after seeing these Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 17, 2011 Super User Posted November 17, 2011 I like the small chest packs, though some complain they get in the way. 1 Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted November 17, 2011 Super User Posted November 17, 2011 I like a "sling bag" that JanSport makes which they call the "Air Cisco." http://www.rockymoun...co_/TDN9/detail By comparison to traditional backpacks, I think it's much easier to put on and take off and has a velcro strap for adjustment (and also for extricating yourself from the bag if you choose to do it this way). It has two main compartments which are nice for organizing gear . I use them to separate my creature and crawfish baits from my worms and jerkbaits but obviously one can personalize it to suit their own system. It probably doesn't hold as much as some bags or backpacks but I find it very handy. And the zippers are not prone to tearing at the seams under weight like some bags/packs. My only complaint is that it only comes in black and get's pretty warm in the summer. Quote

Blue and orange just looks bad. I second this. I have the same bag but in the gray color trimmed with red. Here is a link to the bag that we are referring to: http://www.basspro.com/XPS-Stalker-Tackle-Bag/product/10221672/112339 I don't know what they were thinking when they changed to the blue and orange, but it is still the same bag. I couldn't be more happier!! Quote
