Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 11, 2011 Global Moderator Posted November 11, 2011 Anyone used the new Rick Clunn Luck e Strike jerkbaits yet? I'd seen them online but BPS got some in and I got my hands on one. $7.99 and they look and feel exactly like the megabass vision. Quote
kanasbassfisher08 Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 yeah kinda like the xcalibur twich baits and the luckycraft pointers but a way bigger price difference i like it Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted November 13, 2011 Super User Posted November 13, 2011 Only diff is the hooks .take a look at BPS brands compared to luckycraft same thing also Quote
kLuo Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 for people who have tried these: how do their actions compare? does the Luck e Strike catch as many fish? Quote
Packard Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 The action isn't exactly the same as Megabass but I'd say you would only catch 15% less fish compared to the megabass vision and at that price difference it is definitely worth it for the casual fisherman, but for tournaments I will be using the Megabass Vision 110 over it for sure. Bass Junkie Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 So are they an acceptable substitute for the real deal when you're just out fishing? Quote
Packard Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Yeah, if you are conscious about the Vision 110's price tag they are a great substitute. Same with the Luck E Strike RC Square Bills, they are almost equal to the discontinued Lucky Craft RC's. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I'm conscious about any lure that cost twice the price of a Lucky Craft..... Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 Yeah, if you are conscious about the Vision 110's price tag they are a great substitute. Same with the Luck E Strike RC Square Bills, they are almost equal to the discontinued Lucky Craft RC's. I disagree wholly. The quality of the paint, the bill thickness and durability, and overall finish of the bait is far, far less. The only difference, as someone said, is not the hooks. I broke eight Luck E Strike squarebills this year fishing the same places I've fished the RC Lucky Craft and I haven't broken 8 in the past ten years. They're out and out junk by comparison. The only reason I owned any in the first place is that I won some. I won't spend my money on them, I'll guarantee you that. I can't speak for the jerkbait, as I haven't fished it yet. I'm told it is about a one in 90 chance you get a bait that actually suspends correctly, and the same holds true with the paint and finish. I haven't really formed an opinion on them, as I've not fished them yet. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 Fishability of a bait is totally in the eye of the beholder. Quote
River Rat316 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Really? so you can fish a broken bait, or a suspending bait that doesn't suspend? People are always so worried about spending a couple extra bucks on quality lures yet will spend thousands on there boat, thousands on rods and reels, and thousands per year on gas getting to the lake, but yet complain left and right about $15 for a LC pointer when all you really need is 2 or 3 different colors and 2 different sizes 1 Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 Who said anything about fishing a broken bait , you totally missed my point. Quote
Super User deep Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 So what was your point? Evidently I missed it too. Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Just a thought.....Considering the cost of a bag of soft plastics these days, and how long those last, the cost of hard baits really isn't that bad. Keep that in mind, and the sting of some of the $15+ Jerkbaits won't seem so bad. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 The Megabass Ito Vision 110 is a $25-$30 lure.... I just can't justify that Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 Don't feel bad , a lot of us can't justify that kind of cost. Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 To be honest, I can't either. But, even still, that's about 5 packs of Senko's, which honestly doesn't last that long. The cost issue that drives me nuts is some of the swim baits. Especially considering their cost compared to Musky baits, which aren't cheap, but can be much cheaper than Bass swimbaits. Quote
rubba bubba Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 But, even still, that's about 5 packs of Senko's, which honestly doesn't last that long. You need to get a bottle of Mend-It. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Im going to give em a try. I like what Luck-E Strike is doing. Taking well known fish catchers and reproducing them for half the price. Even if it doesnt have the same action of a Mega, its only $7 down the drain. Quote
ChrisAW Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 You need to get a bottle of Mend-It. X2! I was reusing the same three or 4 Swim Senko's as trailers all year, fixing them with Mend-It. I only bought one pack and I still have half that pack left, and I know I caught upwards of 50 fish just from those. Quote
JIGFISHERMAN. Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 LOL. In that case, you guys must be right. I will get some mend-it and start using it. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted November 15, 2011 Super User Posted November 15, 2011 Much as I love Luck E strike plastics baits...even I stay away from the hard bait selection. $7.99 really isn't that cheap when comparing to most baits on the market. So how bad can it really be? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 15, 2011 Author Global Moderator Posted November 15, 2011 Well I've been fishing the Luck e Strike jerkbait a little bit the last three days and they do work. A couple things I'll say about them, replace the split rings, on my 3rd cast with the one I got I hooked a keeper bass that dove and pulled my hook and the split ring off my bait. You have to pull or reel the bait down because it has a tendancy to roll onto the surface if you don't. On the plus side the bait casts great and fishes easily and catches fish. I've caught both largemouth and smallmouth on it and it seems to be holding up fine even after catching several fish and even after bouncing off of my trolling motor shaft after a fish tossed it. It may not be a Megabass but it looks like it could be another good option to have. Quote
