Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 7, 2011 Super User Posted November 7, 2011 This is a lot worse than a play for pay scandal. Really tragic if it's true that they chose to ignore it and shove it under the rug.
Super User Sam Posted November 7, 2011 Super User Posted November 7, 2011 Grey Wolf, it is a sad situation and I sincerely hope it is not true. I remember Sandusky and thought highly of his coaching skills. I cannot fathom how someone in his positon could do what he is accused of doing. Makes no sense. I guess the "Anti-Joe's" will hit the street and ask Paterno to resign. Sad situation at a school that is known to be an ethical and professional educational entity where there are no problems.
Super User J Francho Posted November 7, 2011 Super User Posted November 7, 2011 Sad situation at a school that is known to be an ethical and professional educational entity where there are no problems. The school can recover from this issues, but those boys won't. Ever. 1

Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 8, 2011 Super User Posted November 8, 2011 As I understand it and I could be wrong Paterno did the right thing by reporting but it was swept under the carpet. I have always admired Paterno putting education above athletics.
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 8, 2011 Super User Posted November 8, 2011 What I don't get is why JoePa told school administrators and not the police then the school let him use school facilities to hold camps for kids. If it comes out another kid was abused by him after this it will get much worse. Unfortunately after all the great things JoePa did in his great career this is how it may end...
Super User J Francho Posted November 8, 2011 Super User Posted November 8, 2011 If it comes out another kid was abused by him after this it will get much worse. One? There will be a dozen or more. These guys don't just victimize one kid.
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 8, 2011 Super User Posted November 8, 2011 Was referring to after JoePa said something to school administrators and did nothing else. My warning to the administrators would be what I know and I am heading to the cops right now...
Lucky Craft Man Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) One? There will be a dozen or more. These guys don't just victimize one kid. There are eight victims listed in Grand Jury report. Unfortunatley, I'm sure there are many more. If you are interested in a distrubing read, here is the Grand Jury report: Edited November 9, 2011 by Glenn Linked content a bit too graphic for a bass fishing site.
Super User 5bass Posted November 8, 2011 Super User Posted November 8, 2011 I read some of the Grand Jury report this morning. About all I can say is that Sandusky is one sick individual. It's a shame to see Paterno go out with this on him but even though he technically did what he was supposed to do and probably won't face charges, I believe he should've done a little more than what he did.
Super User J Francho Posted November 8, 2011 Super User Posted November 8, 2011 Ok, I got to page 3, and can't go on. Yuck.
Triton21 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Ok, I got to page 3, and can't go on. Yuck. There is no punishment bad enough for S.O.B.'s that do this to children. I would be in prison if anyone had molested my child. Kelley 1

basser89 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Looks like Joe Pa's stay at Penn.St may be over. At the end of the season from what I just heard from the one of the central PA TV stations.
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 9, 2011 Author Super User Posted November 9, 2011 At the end of the season from what I just heard from the one of the central PA TV stations. Joe says he will retire at season's end but the school has not made its final statement yet , he may be fired before the game saturday.
Super User senile1 Posted November 9, 2011 Super User Posted November 9, 2011 Unless there is more to the story than I have heard, I don't quite understand all the flack against Paterno. First, he heard about the molestation from another source. He did not witness the activity. At your work, if you heard about such an activity from a second-hand source would you call the cops? If you would, then you do know what would happen if it turned out that your second-hand source had lied, or was incorrect in their description of the activity, right? You would lose your job and could be sued for filing a false report based on a rumor. At any workplace, unless your eyes actually witnessed criminal events you are not supposed to call the cops. You report it to higher levels of management and they investigate. That is what Paterno did. Is there more to the story regarding Paterno? 2

This isn't a case of workplace misdeeds, this is molestation of a minor, many minors. As far as I'm concerned, everyone in the chain that did nothing is complicit in some way, no question about it. What if it was your kid or family member? If someone at work came to me and said, Hey I just saw a 10 year old boy in the shower with a 55 year old man, my first call wouldn't be to my boss, just sayin, and if it was my kid, no phone call would be needed, I'm pretty sure I would take care of that myself. 1

Joe has an incredible amount of pull at the school, he chose not to do anything about it along with other school officials so as not to spoil Penn St. reputation. Its all about big money, everyone who knew and did nothing should be fired. They even left the guy run his foundation clinics from the school for another 7 or 8 years. 1

You assume I have never been in this situation. You are incorrect. Even now it angers me talking about it. From your words I can see you have never been in those shoes. These types of people usually aren't caught in the act. You find out after the fact and then you want to kill them, but at that point your kid needs you more than ever, so you can't do anything that would cause you to be imprisoned. It is a very tough situation to endure. But that doesn't justify being unfair to others who could be innocent. A few years back there was a big situation that was on all of the talk shows and the news. Quite a few children accused some adults of molestation. Some of those adults went to prison. It was only discovered later that the reports were false and that these people had been imprisoned for nothing. Joe Paterno heard the story about the coach with one kid from a graduate assistant. I assume he didn't know whether to believe it or not, but even if he doubted it he did report it per procedures. In such situations at the workplace, you as the reporter of the bad news, will never hear anything else about it because the company (or school in this case) protects everyone's privacy to avoid being sued. Even if he asked about the consequences, he would not have been told. If he was involved in a cover-up then he is guilty and deserves scorn. JoePa is the head coach and he is the boss at that school. He did have a lot of pull but I'm not sure that would count for much in this situation. And if what you say is true then he deserves to be fired. My point is a question: Do you or any of us know this to be true based on evidence, or are we just assuming it? By the way, he did resign today. 1
Super User 5bass Posted November 10, 2011 Super User Posted November 10, 2011 This is getting worse by the day.

Senile....this is the best post I have ever seen on this site. The judgement DISGUSTS me.....from all of you. So many armchair quarterbacks, gladly jawing off their opinions, when they have zero......ZERO facts on the situation. I bet none of the members on this site have been faced with turning in a loved one or someone your close with. Joe Paterno did what he had to do and let his superiors deal with it. It was THEIR choice on what to do with it. Joe had no idea whether the allegations were true or not and frankly, it was none of his business.

senko_77 Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 effective immediately paterno is fired. Disgusting. Just disgusting. Congratulations to the media and to the retards all over the country screaming for his being removed. Judgement is real and is coming.

I hope no one follows your stupid advice. In fact, your post should be removed. Thousands of victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual abuse have been saved from "second-hand sources."
