esoxangler Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Has anyone had any experience using these? Never fished with tubes before and want to give it a try. There are a number of brands out there and I saw these and thought they may be worth trying, but wanted to get some opinions from any of you. Thanks in advance! Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted August 1, 2009 Super User Posted August 1, 2009 I like the tail section which is very free moving. However, I don't think they are any better than any other tube. You still need to place them where the fish are. Quote
Koop Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I got them... same as any other tube, don't smell like coffee to me either, maybe I just got a bad batch of beans. Quote
Stingray23 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Tubes are one of my favorite baits. And the SK coffee tubes have worked great for me. Quote
Josh Bassman Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Tubes are the best bass producer in my tackle box. I've haven't seen to many threads on tube technique. I like a slow drag with an exposed hook. Quote
TheHammer84 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 i got a pack to flip into heavy vegetation. love the way they smell, and they are absolutely covered in salt. haven't used them yet though, if they are anything like the coffee shad, they'll work well. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 Softer the tube, slower the action(shimmy side to side bait action),the longer time they hold on. The harder the tube, the faster they fall(straight down to a fast spiral fall), tend to hold on less time.Scent may help the hold time, but not by much. Pay attention to single dip or double dip tubes, they all have different actions and fall rates.Even if you are using the exact same weight. Something I'm beginning to realize, not all tubes are created equal.I might be going crazy,or i discovered some very valuable information. 80% of my fish were caught on various brands of tubes this year pending on what and how aggressive they were feeding that day.I changed out accordingly to the bite. John B Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 They are like gold for me in the rivers around here with smallmouths. I don't think it is the coffee scent as much as the salt content and the tail action, not sure the coffee scent does much but maybe mask the scent off of my hands. I fish them with a weighted tube / jig head in the tube, they have an action similar to a crawfish bouncing along the rocks. Quote
adclem Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I have had fairly good luck with the SK Coffee scented tubes but I have had much better luck with YUM Mega Tubes. I use the Owner Phantom tube hook, works awesome. So far this year tubes have been by biggest producer. Later, Quote
