1234567 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I'm looking to do some shore fishing next weekend and was wondering if anyone could point out some places with ALOT of bank access. I am catch and release only and don't get out that way much. I've been on the rim canal before with a boat but don't have one this time. Is the bank fishing okay at the Clewiston area? I've also been on the Tamiami canal several times, but from the bank there I havn't figured it out all to well yet. If anyone has any spots they don't mind sharing please help me out. PM is fine too. Thank you very much. Quote
FL_Sharpshooter Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I never did any good when I was bank fishing at the clewiston area in the rim canal. I would suggest to try Pahokee, FL. If you look at the google map, you can see that there's actually access to the main lake from the shore . Quote
Shane Procell Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Since your in Ft. Myers I would go to the L-28 a.k.a. "The Interceptor" canal. It is located on the Miccosukee Reservation on Alligator Alley. The exit is on the bridge so you have to be looking for it. It is a mile or so west of the snake road exit. You can google earth it and take a look. That canal is bad *** and long. I would go north a few miles on the dirt road to the lock and start there. Even though its indian land you are allowed to fish it. There are some MONSTA bass in there. Shoot me a message if you need more help. there are alot of alligators but since you live here i'am sure you are used to them. Quote
GLADES Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 In Moorehaven, at the end of canal street, there is a camp ground / trailer park with a large boat dock that runs parallel to the shore. The rim canal intersects the ditch that runs out to the monkey box. Last time I was there in my boat, the dock was loaded with fisherman and they were just killing the specks and bass there. The water was teeming with fish. They were using minnows and bobber, but I am sure lures could have worked there too.I wanted to make a few casts there, but I respected their lines and then headed north. You might have to pay a couple of bucks to fish on their dock, but they might just let you fish there for free. Quote

Our last tourny out there had quite a few 5+lb fish. Holeylands has a ton of bank access as well, and though I haven't been there in a few months recent tournys have been bringing in 25+lb bags. 1234567 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Guys, I really appreciate the input. It means alot, especially since in the area I live, alot of spots I could hop around too have been closed down do to people messing up the area. Its sad, I remember many days that I taught my kids how to fish there and have had lots of good times. Punish the bad guys not us fisherman! I am just worried that with my luck, the interceptor canal gate would be closed when I get there! I'll also look into the holeylands as well. Thanks for that tip evrgladesbasser! I've never heard of this place. If anyone knows, what is the water depth in the L28 canal? It looks pretty open on the google earth map. Is the bottom muddy, rocky, weedy. Just trying to get an idea of what to bring. I'm going to try huddlestons here also. Thanks everyone again! I can't wait to move out of Ft. Myers. Not a place for bank fisherman!! Quote
