So I have a pretty nice truck.... at least to me, right ? :) LOL It has like an 8000 lb towing capacity, and barely even knows my little 1000 lb rig is behind it. In fact, a few times I'd be getting onto the freeway, and I'd gun it straight up to 68 mph, and over 2 (or 3 ?) lanes in no time, then look back and be like "Oh $#@$" I got my boat back there..... immediately slowing to 59mph...

But I've went and put entirely too much time and $$$ into that freaking thing, and the launch ramp for for my Striper fishing, is just too in the middle of know where. Put it this way, it is often littered with broken auto glass :( I'm sorry. But I refuse to park my truck out there......

So, I had to find a way to get my boat to that launch ramp :) Drumroll please......

It's the new super boat hauler special ! :) LOL My Hyundai Accent 3 dr hatch :) It actually has just shy of a 1000 lb towing capacity (unbraked) so I think my boat is right there.... and anyway, it pulled it just fine today. No slipping at the ramp or anything....

But yea', I know it looks funny pulling my boat. Hey, the car is kinda' sorta' disposable. The truck not !

PS, I know... I know.... photo's or it never happened :) .....come on you guys.... it's not like I try to hang out and be cool pulling my camo boat with this car for a while when I'm done :) LOL .... but I'll try to snap a couple when nobody is watching ;)

Lol nice but where us ur hitch on the Hyundai? I believe ya just wondering. Heck I was on my way to ft drum last year and seen a Ranger Comanche being towed by a Chevy Malibu so I don't doubt it's possible.

Welcome back Chris. You have been gone for a while, probably picking out your new car.

Good to hear from you....sweet tow vehicle - nice rims! I was actually looking at a Fiat last week - need a grocery getter. I have a buddy that tows his wake boat with a Corvette Z06. I bet your rig gives that rig a run for its money!

Nice Fish Chris glad to see you back!! We had a topic started here asking about you? I can't remember who started it but glad to see you back! I use my Toyota Corolla to pull my jon boat. I wish I know about the hide away towing packages. Me and father n law cut open the back bumper, bolted on a angle iron to the frame and welding on a hitch.

Hey guys, yea', my hitch... or reciever, is a Draw Tight brand. I take the actual hitch off, when not in use (just held by a pin, with a large cotter key) to keep from bashing my shins on it.

Funny thing though...... although my car has to work a LOT harder than my truck, to pull the boat, its actually easier to back up and launch, because I can see the boat / trailer behind the car, whereas the truck is so much bigger, it blocks a lot of my rear viewing....

But the best part is, while I'm out on the water, I don't have to sit there worrying about my truck !

Peace,

Fish

I have never heard of anyone buying a CAR to pull their boat with. I bought a car to drive to work so I wouldn't have to drive my truck to work. Although a car could probably pull my boat (Carolina Skiff J16 w/30 HP Tohatsu 4-Strok) I prefer to pull a boat with my truck. Neither my car or truck are as nice as your two vehicles. 1997 Honda Accord with 207,000 miles and a 1997 GMC Yukon with 165,000 miles.

My buddy used to have a Trailblazer SS. It had the LS2 400 horsepower small block chevy in it. He installed twin turbos, and totally rebuilt the motor. It dynoed 860 rear wheel horsepower. It ran low 10s in the quarter mile and had a full roll cage. You should of seen the looks on the guys faces at the ramp when we would launch my boat. The thing would just sit there with a loud choppy idle while the turbos whined away.

And I thought pulling my 18.5 foot bass boat with my little Subaru was funny.

You win that contest!!!!!! :D:D:D

Yea..... and the thing is, I drive my little Hyundai for my work, so I really don't drive it unless I have to. But in this case, I really feel like I have to. I just don't have the time or money to redo everything I've put into the truck !

Oh but hey, for those of you into nice car stereo's, mine is sounding better than it ever has :) I'm now running four tweets, four mids, four 8" mid-bass drivers, and two 15" subs, all with about 1500 wts RMS (need to bump that to about 4Kwts, but it's okay for now).

Anyway, of course it will play loud bass, but it will also play "any kind of music" loud enough to cover all road noise, at 70mph with all the windows down. It's just really balanced and musical :) Lotsa' fun :)

LOL :) Apparently a lot of them, as honestly, I get more comps on my little car, than I do my truck.... granted, it's usually from females, who call my car "cute" ! Doh !

But seriously, what kind of guy ? Probably a guy that 1) is not worried about what the next guy thinks, and 2) is not trying desperately to fit in with the pack, and 3) needed decent gas mileage :)

My truck is my baby though, which I drive any chance I can. My car is just for gas mileage, and was the cheapest car on the market in 07'.... like $9800 window sticker, brand new, with a 100K mile drivetrain warranty.

What guy in his right mind would drive/own a car like that? :o

Brushhoggin, I just mean $9,800 vs. $25,000 (+ everything added later)

Peace,

Fish

When I bought the Ranger I owned for a couple years my dad pulled it home behind his Buick Le Sabre. Looked pretty funny seeing that car pulling an 18' bassboat but it got it there alright. I pulled that boat with a 2 wheel drive S-10 the whole time I had it. It didn't pull it very well and I of course ruined the transmission in the truck but I was a dumb teenager at the time that didn't know any better.

Hey CFFF, I didn't actually buy the car, to pull the boat. I've had the car for more than 4 years. Just put the hitch on it last week.

Oh but hey, I love your rig ! That thing would be fantastic out here in our Delta waters for Striper and Sturgeon. Of course it would be great for anything freshwater too.

Please don't come back and tell me "you wish you had a bigger, more powerful boat". That boat is totally all you need :)

Peace,

Fish

Chris you know woman love cute things. They flock to them like pigs to slop. My car never gets the its cute thing. Funny that it is based on a chicks car. After dodge took the female charm out of it woman hate it.

Any way I do know how you feel. I don't like to leave my car out of my site when I fish. Its not the the areas I fish are in a bad part of town. Its just a lot of teenagers hang out the spots I fish.

No, I actually love my boat. It is perfect for the type of fishing I do. It has a nice large front deck and decent size back deck and fishes two people perfectly, but can accommodate 3. I just wish it had a 40hp instead of a 30hp. It is a little slow to get out of the hole with a full load and two guys. Fill the livewell and the other guy might be sitting on the front deck.

Yea' man, I love those kinds of boats ! I hear you on the HP's though :) My boat has the max 25hp motor on it..... but if ever I was to buy a brand new motor for it, I'd probably go with a 40hp myself. Not that I really need it, but just because ;)

I drive an older Accent (2001) because most of the time it's just me and my 4 yr old riding in it, and the stupid little thing gets ~40 mpg around town while my Suburban gets 15. I drove it from here to Bracy, VA a few months ago with a 16' canoe strapped to the roof and still got 39 mpg.

Also, like Fish Chris, I like the fact that I can park it anywhere and not worry.

Right on :)

That is a cool little rig you have there :) What I love to see, is guys in little micro-light rigs like yours, holding up some big ol' hogs ;) Then, you can look over to any of those flashy $50K rigs, and tell them, "Nice boat" !

Don't mind me. I'm just having fun :)

Fish
