swmofisher Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Anyone use braid when fishing on docks for winter crappie? wanting to buy suffix ice braid 6 lb. for sensitivity but don't know about negative, if any, around brush. Quote
basscrusher Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I've used 10-lb braid for perch/crappie fishing the past 2 winters on the Potomac, and have not seen a decline in number of bites. If anything, it may be better since I feel those cold-water nibbles even more clearly. And I, too, fish alot around docks. Quote
RyneB Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I use braid all the time while crappie fishing. I used it because i have better feel, and i lose a lot less jigs due to me having that extra strength to be able to bend my hook instead of breaking the line. I use it a lot of my ice rods also, but through the ice i use a fluoro leader. I use the sufix ice braid through the ice, i cant imagine itd be easy to cast. Quote
swmofisher Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 That's what I want to use it for, not really ice fishing but there is some ice on the water on oklahoma lakes, just not enough to stand on lol.
