Decided to build a new rig and make it pretty ridiculous in the process...

i5 OC's to 3.8GHz

16 GB 1333 ram

120 GB SSD drive

ASRock Gen3 Extreme motherboard

ASUS Nvidia 560 GTX OC'd to 880 MHz

750W modular PSU

Win 7 Ultimate

Thermaltake Level 10 Case ( pretty much the most ridiculous case ever)

Thought I might treat myself with this little gem that I put together today. Should play BF3 and Skyrim etc etc on high settings and all that jazz....with the 16 gb of ram and SSD I can get from post to desktop on 8.5 seconds after a reboot, lol.

Why no i7? or atleast a 1TB HDD?

My i5 overclocked can pump out same GHz as the i7 and I saved about 100 bucks or more, and I have 2 1TB 7200RPM drives in drive bay 2 and 3...didnt mention because they are just used for storage. my SSD is amazingly fast.

Nice setup. I have a question that I would like to ask without coming across sounding like a smart tail. Doesn't over clocking a machine cause earlier hardware failure? I know a lot of people do it, I just always thought it was extremely bad on parts.

That being said, that's not a pc it's a mini server.

I'm going to have to check with Glenn on this one. I'm not sure that speaking in tongues is allowed.

You might want a ante virus if you install the internets and the googles.

I built a new box also...it has....

a Momentus ZRX-G1000 XL5 motherboard with proprietary nuclear interplexor.

200 gigawhops of memory, optimized with Ovaltine.

3 Giganto 12 gigaflam HDs (can virtually hold the content of the entire internet)

a Light Brite AL7 4D video card with sensaround and 20 gigawhops of memory

a Honda 3200KW 10HP motor driven 3-phase power supply

It's a great system, but it has a few of drawbacks...

you can only use it in a Hobart walk in freezer to prevent overheating

It can play the hottest video out now ("World Nuclear Zombie Annihilation 3.4), but it's not much fun as the game is usually over in 3 or 4 seconds, very fast computer.

You must have a "Star Trek 405" nuero transmitter for an input device as mice and keyboards are way too slow to provide legit input.

the refresh rate and frequency of the video subsystem will burn the retinas out of your eyes.

outside of a few bugs, it's a pretty decent rig........ :D

Ronnie (PS - sorry, I couldn't resist)
