Skeeterman225 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Been a while since I posted any wire baits. Had someone wanting me to match this yellow perch and this is what we ended up with. Wish we had some of them around here.... 1 Quote
grampa1114 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 So can you tell me why, when you do decide to keep a few of these tasty morsels......as soon as you put one in your livewell.....they stop hitting? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 1, 2011 Super User Posted November 1, 2011 This time of year, it's usually not a problem to come up with a 50 perch limit, but they do take some finesse-ful teasing. Up here, we sight fish them on a flasher or graph vertically with a drop shot. I use little Gulp! minnows and worms on a #8 hook. Adjust weight to the wind. Nice looking bait, Skeeterman. I'd like to see a couple threads of green and orange in my perch pattern baits. Quote

If it were for me, I'd probably replace the translucent white strands in the belly with some orange to match the fins on the belly. The person I made it for did not want that though. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 2, 2011 Super User Posted November 2, 2011 Very nice as usual. Good job keeping the layers where you wanted them. The Spike-it unscented orange is good for perch and bluegil bellies. Dip the tab (or few strands) and quickly rub it off with an old towel. Repeat until you get the desired amont of orange. This way its not that bright "in your face" color and more subdued and natural. ...Bill Nice tip. JJ's Methiolate (which I think is southern for "pink") does the same for yellow strands. You get a really brilliant orange. Quote
