After hearing about the fantastic fishing on the west wall at lake Okeechobee I just had to get a taste. My buddy, Capt. Bud R., and I loaded up and took off. It took us less than two hours to get there. The wind was a gusty 15-20 out of the north east and we were on the south end :o It was white capping on the lake so we stayed tight to the backside of the rim canal. We had intended to toss frogs but used heavier spinner baits instead. Within 30 minutes Bud had 2 good fish in the boat. We boated another 6 fish before we had enough of the wind. We ate a burger at Roland Martin's place and headed back home. I can't wait to get back up there. That place is incredible!

Another friend was bass fishing Markham Park off Alligator Alley west of Ft. lauderdale today. He was using 10 braid with a 20# leader. He hooked and landed this beautiful freshwater tarpon. He guestimated it at around 50#'s.

Can you imagine fishing for bass and hooking into this beast!

Nice fish Shane, and an awesome video to boot. Can't wait to get a GoPro Hero2 for Christmas, I miss making vids!

Great picture as well. I love throwing a spinnerbait!

Glad you made out to lake Okeechobee. It really is a great fishery. That wind will definitely chase you off of the lake though.

Nice fish there guys. That tarpon is great, funny thing is me and a freind were out there fishing the same area when he caught that tarpon. We were talking with him about about it just a little while after he caught it. Small world.... huh I caught a nice 4lb LMB and we saw a bunch of those little tarpon rolling and feeding in front of the larger colverts with some flow.
