Hound_dog Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 I've been using Seaguar flouracarbon line now for awhile. Started when they came out with the Red Label, found it to be the best flouracarbon line on the market. They came out with the Invizx and Arabzx tried both of them in different applications and thought they were great lines also. Here lately though I've been having problems with 10lb and 15lb Abrazx. The problem is the line breaking really easy. I've tied my knot checked it only to have the line break, set the hook and have the line break on hook set, to stripping some line off my reel and checking it to have it break with little tension. I then check he spool of left over line and it too broke easily. I pull my rods out of my boat if I know I'm not going the next day, I change my line very frequently. I was wondering if anyone else has had any such problems. Its only been with the 10lb and 15lb Abrazx of lately from different spools. I've not had any problems with the Invizx or any of the Red Label spools I still have left. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted October 30, 2011 Super User Posted October 30, 2011 Call seagaur and let them know. I've never had any problems with them, but every one makes mistakes. Maybe it was just a bad batch. Quote
northern basser Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Most line break issues that I've had with InvisX and other flourocarbon lines is in the knot. If your not using the right knot or wetting the line enough when tying it. Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Is it only on one rod? If so maybe there is a nick in one of the guides. Quote
scbassin Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 I have used InvizX, AbrazX, & Tatsu without the the breaking problems you are having. In fact I can't ever remember breaking off with those lines. As has been said check your guides & make sure your is good and wet when you pull your knot tight Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted October 30, 2011 Super User Posted October 30, 2011 I had problems with Invisx in 6 lb, and Abrazx in 10lb. All of my breakage problems were with the line itself, Not my knots. I went so far as to inquire at the seaguar booth at a Fred Hall show. I talked to 2 reps, after some persistent quarry's the head rep, finally told they did have some breakage problems with the invisx, and gave me a new spool, I tried it out, as a top shot, and a leader, even in salt water bay fishing, and it worked fine....so far. I haven't bought any new AbrazX, preferring to spend my $$ on proven YoZuri ultrasoft line. I don't fish gin clear water that much, so I'll stick with what works best for me. Quote
Hound_dog Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Its on different rods and does not only break at the knott but also in the middle of the line. I have not called them yet as I want to check with others to see if anyone else is having similar problems. This tends to keep the BS companies try to tell down to a min. Its only started occuring as of late. I am thinking either the production process has changed or a bad batch was ran. I have spoken with one other guy whos had problems with the 10lb line. Quote
Fat-G Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 If you do contact them, I hope you have better luck with Seaguar than I had with Berkley. One of the spools of Fireline I bought started to fray. I emailed them and got an automated email back saying to "send the entire spool in for them to look at". Well, it wasn't already frayed on the spool, it started to fray on the third cast. There was nothing to fray it, I was fishing open water with a Spro frog. Lame. Quote
BassThumb Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 A line that breaks away from the knot is a sign that it could be a bad batch. I've never had any issues with Seaguar lines, but I don't use them all that much. I have had bad batches of Fireline Braid and P-Line CXX, though. Both are good lines that I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. It happens. Quote
