boystcroix Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Just ordered a Marlin 1895 Guide gun in 45-70. It should be here Mon. or Tue., I can't wait to shoot that beast. I have a Bushnell Holosight to sit on top of it. I plan on using it for deer and bear hunting in the thick laurel here in central PA. I'm going to use the Hornady Leverevolution ammo 325gr. I love big bore heavy bullets and this fits the bill perfectly. I considered the 450 Marlin but it looks like there are alot more choices in 45-70 to a non-reloader. Quote
timistall Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Had one with a ported barrel. Shot real nice groups. Quote
tholmes Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I've had one for about 25 years. Great rifle, it packs a lot of punch in a relatively small package. Great close quarters deer rifle. If you're recoil-sensitive, this ain't the gun for you Tom Quote
