Super User .ghoti. Posted October 29, 2011 Super User Posted October 29, 2011 Have you heard the expression "*** for tat"? Used in a manner to suggest that someone has gotten what was coming to them. I've heard it here in Illinois; heard it in Florida, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, etc. It seems it is not really a regional thing. I only have one question. What's a tat? Quote
Jim_M Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Tasteless clothes, jewelry, or ornaments. Quote

Super User slonezp Posted October 29, 2011 Super User Posted October 29, 2011 Whatever it is, its value is equal to t**. Funny...Should be plural. 2 is better than 1. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 My dad used that term in the context of, a choice or choosing of two equals or an exchange of two equals. Maybe that's a Canadian thing. Quote
endless Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 If not for the Shoot Em Up movie I would never understand the saying. Maybe this will help??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tit_for_tat Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 1, 2011 Super User Posted November 1, 2011 The Thematic Apperception Test, or TAT, is a projective psychological test. Historically, it has been among the most widely researched, taught, and used of such tests. Its adherents assert that the TAT taps a subject's unconscious to reveal repressed aspects of personality, motives and needs for achievement, power and intimacy, and problem-solving abilities. A random question deserves a random answer. Now, if only that Wikipedia definition had come from Random House it would have been perfect. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 1, 2011 Super User Posted November 1, 2011 One who sports a tat knows where it's at. Yeah Ghoti, it's an eye for an eye thing, usually over something trivial. Quote
