nickw234 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I am going to BPS today to get some new worms I am either going to get 7' or 10', but not sure what one to get I fish alot of ponds so don't catch alot of big bass.(most in the 1lb to 1.5 pound range) I know you can still catch dinks on a 10' worm so would I be better off with a 7' or 10' worm? Clark Stewart Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 eh...get a bag of both - I had an awesome weekend trying out the new rage tail line of baits (shad and space monkey) but haven't tried the anacondas. I hear they're awesome. They come in 7 and 10 inch but they're pricey. My personal best was caught on a 10 inch worm - i'd get maybe a pack of 7 inch anacondas and then a pack of 10 inch whatevers - I like yum and zoom. You can catch big bass on a 7 inch worm but the addage has proven true to me - big bait big fish. You may come away with less bites but with a ten inch worm you're gonna have a decent fish. Worst case scenario you can always bite off a couple inches of your 10 inch zoom to make it 7 or 8 inches if you think that the bass are all too small! Clear as mud? good. Quote
nickw234 Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Ya I got a bag on 7' anaconda an they are amazing so now that you said that I think I will just get a bag on 10' anaconda's. Quote

Ponds are probably one the better places for an opportunity at a truly big bass. Stop targeting dinks, and go big and slow. 10" Anacondas would be my recommendation. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 Target bigger bass and you will still catch some of the smaller fish. If you're really after "numbers", fish smaller (4") worms. 8-) Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 3, 2009 Super User Posted August 3, 2009 Most of the worms I fish are 6-8", I do fish 4 and 10" but not on a regular basis, 4 inchers catch a lot of dinks, 10 inchers hang up a lot ( the tail wraps around the limbs ) where there 's lots of submerged brush and timber reason why I don 't fish them much. farmpond1 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 This past weekend my brother and I upscaled our plastic worms to between 7 and 10 inches. Consequently, I believe, we caught several bigger bass. I lost one that might've gone 6 lbs-huge by my standards. Quote
