When I resumed fishing last year, it was like starting new.

What of my old gear remained was no longer servicable.

Needed new poles, reels, tackle, etc.

Joined the forum, and read about all kinds of great baits and lures.

I added to my arsenal, based on the recommendations I read on this forum.

Bought Xraps, rattletraps, or their equivalent, jointed baits, top water lures, etc., etc.

Every time I read a glowing report, I was tempted to run out and grab a few.  Sometimes temptation won out.

Now that I have learned to use some of what I have, and have enjoyed success with it, I'm no longer tempted to run out and buy the latest and greatest anything.

For now, the only stuff I buy is to replenish that which is worn out, torn up, or lost.

I know what your talking about Rhino.

Every time I go to the store I feel the need to buy jig trailers, only because I haven't caught a bass on a jig yet.  I'm sure once I do finally catch a bass on a jig I will stick with the the trailer I was using when I caught the bass.

Denial. The first sign of being an addict.  ;D  Bud, your journey's just begun. I kind of went through that gotta have every lure out there, but like you, I cooled down. And I'm not in denial.  ;)

Consider yourself lucky that you got the recommendations here vs. watching late night infomercials and buying something like the flying lure or the helicopter lure.  ;D

Hey guys, drop the "denial" stuff. I'm denying nothing.

The title says I'm a recovering addict.

How does that equate to denial?

Why do smokers hate to see another smoker quit, or drinkers see another alcoholic go on the wagon?

You should be happy for me, and encouraging me, not mocking me. Some friends you guys are. ;)

And then so this shall pass!

Fishing, you have to reform.

You need more baits and tackle.

The Bait Monkey is very unhappy with you and you don't want to make the Bait Monkey mad.  ;D   ;D   ;D

Why am I reminded of the margarine "tastes like butter" ad, with Mother Nature hurling lightning bolts saying, "It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature."?
