I started coming here because it offered me answers to my questions as I was learning how to catch these fish. I got good answers quickly. I still have questions and still get great info quickly. Over the last few years I have visited this site daily, I feel like something is wrong if I don't. Now, the members, I think is why I visit daily. I just like to read what people are doing and catching and asking about. I have had the pleasure of meeting a couple members here in person and hope some day to make it to a BR road trip!

I would have to agree with everything said.

Also for the most part there really aren't any cliques here. It doesn't matter if a poster has a week of fishing experience or 50 years, or if they're young or one of the old farts. The members treat most everyone with respect.

And if they don't, their posts are quickly deleted by site staff to maintain the illusion that we're all one big happy family.

I spend a good bit of time here, and overall I enjoy the site and forum, but this is quite possibly the most over-moderated site I've ever visited on a regular basis.

Thanks, we try to do our best, but the BR members are the best Moderators and they do the job very well. I think preach4bass said it the best when he posted "While BR is always going to be predominately a group of grown men, the family atmosphere leads us to protect the forums in much of the same way we look after our homes. Yes, the mods have to step in from time to time to police the forums, but for the most part, us average Joe members fight for the family we have grown to love. The leadership, vision, and guidelines for use of BR make it clear that this is, and will continue to be, a family forum."

I post regularly on a local fishing forum. It is the least moderated site I've been on and very clique'ish. If you're not used to the different personalities it can be difficult to navigate thru the BS to find the wealth of knowledge that lies within. It doesn't matter to me one way or another. I have thick skin and realize that it's just the internet. Some people take everything personaly. On that site I think some guys who want to put and take information are scared off by the screwing around. The site has a solid foundation of members and we tend to moderate ourselves. Posts don't get deleted unless they are spam that gets thru. Threads do get locked, but you either have to personally attack someone or be completely over the top out of line. I have visited other local fishing forums but don't care for them for one reason or another.

So consider yourselves lucky BR members. You are graced with my presence. I like it here

Its more about fishing and less about internet drama than any other site I have looked at.

For the times when I want to get down and dirty or discuss topics that are frowned upon on BR I simply go elsewhere, there are many options.

Non negativity. The Mods keep a close eye out for negative posts that arent warrented, especialy personal attacks. The Mods also allow guys to speak their mind without over sensoring. This breeds a friendly atmosphere. That is the single most important factor that an established forum needs. That keeps guys posting and particapating. It also encourages new members to sign up. In a nut shell, this forum is run better then most.

While I couldn't disagree more with the poster who feels BR is the most overmoderated forum site out there, I also understand that peoples personal opinions are going to differ, and can respect the fact that he feels that way. I have been a member of multiple forums with topics including fishing, guitars, atv's, and bow hunting over the past 3-5 years and have found that many are extremely undermoderated to the point where 90% of what you read is garbage and or personal attacks based upon which clique you belong to and what your groups overall opinion of the topic is. In the atv forums it was the 2-stroke guys bashing the 4-stroke guys and vice versa and this was nearly universal throughout all forums that I have been a member of. In one particular atv forum the site owner himself was extremely abrasive in his posts and never passed up an opportunity to bash those with a different opinion. For someone looking for actual help and valid information this type of atmosphere is nearly impossible to get past and I find myself visiting those other sites less and less as each day passes. I personally couldn't be happier with the level of moderator/owner involvement on BR as I have seen many times what the other side of the fence looks like. When I joined BRi was a complete newb who just happened to get lucky with my google search on several topics and took notice that a lot of the forum posts/opinions that I was reading that were actually answering my questions and helping me to learn were comming from the bass resource forums. This revelation lead me to search out the bass resource website and the rest is history. I now visit on nearly a daily basis and have found that this is by far the most versatile and informative bass fishing forum available. The thing that really blows me away is the longtime members/anglers willingness to share information and knowledge with everybody and often times doing so multiple times and for multiple people like myself who often get rushed and don't take the time to use the search feature as they should before posting a question. Another major plus that I've found goes hand in hand with a community atmosphere among the members and a well run and moderated forum is the lack of people looking to rip somebody off or all out scam somebody in the for sale section of forum websites. This is a huge problem on almost all boards that I've been associated with excluding one other bass forum I am a member of which I use almost exclusively for the for sale section due to a higher percentage of high end equipment and for information on new products as they become available. While there is always going to be somebody willing to screw over other members, bass resource's flea market is by far the least volitile/risky place to buy items in a forum atmosphere that I have found. I haven't personally ever had any problems with buying or selling on bass resource but when I have seen it happen these d-bags have been removed immediately. I applaud the owners/moderators on an amazing site with the best format I have seen to date and hope to continue with my fishing addiction and use of bass resource to further my knowledge base.

When I came to this site I had been away from fishing for a couple of years due to the death of my brother, who was my primary fishing partner. I was welcomed here, and made to feel at home. This site was my first experience with interwebz forums. I very quickly realized that the welcoming atmosphere here is more the exception than the rule.

I am now a member of a couple of other non-fishing forums. I go to them when I want to talk politics and religion, or weapons and shooting. I am careful to wear full-body armor when on these sites. They are not for the faint of heart.

I have seen this site evolve over the years. When I first came it was a much smaller group, and there was more freedom to discuss non-fishing controversial issues. Since I love all controversial issues, I thought that was great. Over time it became clear that these issues were often divisive and had a negative effect on the site in general. Glenn and the Mod Squad apparently agreed and some changes were made. The leash is much shorter now. "This is a fishing site" was the mantra. That is still the case, although the recent ethics discussion was allowed to run its course before the plug was pulled. It is a delicate balance to maintain, and while I sometimes think there is more moderation than necessary, the results speak for themselves.

I love this site. I love the information available here. I love the willingness of the group to share their experiences and knowledge. I love the personalities and the banter;

enthusiasm and passion are two of my favorite things, and I find them here.

In summary  this site is different from the rest because of the management. As has been said, I don't always agree with it, yet the family atmosphere, the amount of participation, the quality of the people and information are directly related to how this site is managed.

I can’t speak about other forums, since I didn’t join any other than BassResource.com. It made me keep coming back because of our helpful members; we have a great group of bass fisherman here. Every time I have a question, it is usually answered the same day plus more. The forum is very well administered by our moderators, and I enjoy the atmosphere (it feels you are welcomed). I have made some friends who share the similarly interest, and great discounts from the sponsors.

I like the various true opinions of everyone on the boards. I learn a lot more because a lot of people here have different views on things (not all of course). I never feel stupid asking a question here and know I'm not going to get flamed. It's good people =0)

All the positive comments about the membership management and content here are indisputable. I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet that you get all this and it's FREE to members an well as guests!

When I have requested help on these forums, I have gotten a wealth of information from people who appear to be experts. So the huge number of responders and the depth of knowledge are what make me keep coming back.

Lund and Senile expressed my views almost to a "T".

I'm sure this has been said multiple times but I haven't read much of this thread....But I have asked several members for Input on techniques and every single time I have gotten more Information than I asked for.

One other thing that made a deep Impression on me; I met Glenn and Kerri at the classic down In Birmingham a couple of years ago and to a person outstanding folks.

In a nutshell from owners, moderators, posters, and advertisers In whole, they make this place the best on the 'net.

Well, I am new here, so I can't say what makes this site better, but I can say what I hope will make this site better. I hope that there is seriously no tolerence for politics and religion discussion. Also, I hope there is no tolerence for personal attacks. It has become very out of control elsewhere. Again mostly because of the lack of control on the political and religous theads. People can get pretty offensive when it comes to that stuff. I love talking about bass fishing and I also like to buy and swap gear. Insterested in that forum a lot.
