Super User Sam Posted October 22, 2011 Super User Posted October 22, 2011 Yea. Always use the Palomar Knot for all presentations. Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 22, 2011 Super User Posted October 22, 2011 Palomar Knot 100% of the time Quote
Super User slonezp Posted October 22, 2011 Super User Posted October 22, 2011 Palomar Knot 100% of the time X2 Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I use polymer knots for everything but flouro. It's a fact that flourocarbon can cut itself when using a polymer. My logic is its not about the 99/100 that it works its the 1/100 that it doesn't work. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 There are better knots for floro. I prefer the Trilene knot.............Al Quote
barroncooper Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 while i probably haven't had any more breakoffs with the palomar on flouro than any other knot, it's the fact that i've heard it's not good and that lowers my confidence in it. I prefer the trilene, improved clinch, or the double san diego jam. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted October 22, 2011 Super User Posted October 22, 2011 I'll agree with Al and Barron on this one. oe Quote
Kevinator1 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I always use the Trilene knot. I've never had any trouble with it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 22, 2011 Global Moderator Posted October 22, 2011 Palomer knot for all of my bass fishing techniques. Quote
pitchinthejig Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 double san diego jam or Three tag knot are the knots I use with my Sunline FC's 12 and under pound test I use the double san diego jam and over 12 is the T/T/K.. On Megabass FC's (Dragon call mainly) ties best with a palomar knot I have had knots fail on Sunline FC's with a well tied Palomar knot never with the other two, Im VERY OCD with knot tying and ALWAYS take the time to tie perfect knots.. On the Megabass FC's palomar knots are king and are the strongest but once again arent the best knot with Sunline FC's (These are the only two brands on FC's I use so cant speak for others) I believe the reason that the Palomar knot is great with Megabass lines is because M/B FC's are much softer then the stiffer/harder Sunline top end FC's and the harder/stiffer lines will cut its self with a Palomar knot and the Softer and more supple Megabass FC's dont/wont cut its self. Main thing with any knot tied with FC is that you lube it well and KEEP THE KNOT LOOSE IN TILL ITS AT THE HOOK EYE THEN TIGHTEN IT ALL UP SLOWLY!!!!! Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted October 23, 2011 Super User Posted October 23, 2011 KEEP THE KNOT LOOSE IN TILL ITS AT THE HOOK EYE THEN TIGHTEN IT worth repeating oe Quote
Primus Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I use a Palomer and never had a problem but as already mentioned tie it slowly and make sure it's lubricated. Quote

Abu Vasili Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Always. Never had a problem, and fluoro is what I use on 95% of my rigs. Quote

Super User deep Posted October 26, 2011 Super User Posted October 26, 2011 Improved clinch and double clinch works fine for me. Simple to tie too. 1 Quote
HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I use to tie the Polomar knot with FC until I read Tackle Tours review. Now the only knot I use is the Improved Clinch, and very rarely have knots fail since I switched. TT's FC review>> http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbon2.html Quote
