Super User 5bass Posted October 18, 2011 Super User Posted October 18, 2011 Oaktown has been in need of a good QB for several years now....hopefully they can knock the rust off Palmer and get him in asap. This is one of the better moves by Raider management in a long time. (I hope) Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 18, 2011 Super User Posted October 18, 2011 I agree, great move in getting him. The Raiders sure do like to give up those #1 picks tho! Quote
ROCbass Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 This move makes no sense to me. The Raiders just traded away their top pick in what was already going to be a thin draft for them due to several other recent trades for a guy who has been sitting at home since the end of last season and had his best seasons 5-6 years ago. He's unlikely to step in and be great right away while learning a new system this year and not having been on a football field for 10 months, and he was threatening retirement if he didn't get traded so I'm not sure his heart is in it long term. If it works out great for the Raiders, but the price they paid seems really high for a guy whose been an average QB in recent years with so many question marks. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 18, 2011 Super User Posted October 18, 2011 Where is Jamarcus when you need him????? Quote
Sfritr Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Palmer is a quitter and washed up. I hope he rots in silver and black... That being said, he will probably be comback player of the year... Quote
Super User Marty Posted October 18, 2011 Super User Posted October 18, 2011 I agree with my fellow Rochesterian that Oakland gave up a lot for him. The Bengals got the best of this deal, in my opinion. 1 Quote
OHIO Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I couldn't be happier. Picked him up in fantasy because I knew my Bengal loving friends would want him. Ended up getting Rivers for him. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted October 19, 2011 Super User Posted October 19, 2011 The Raider Haters will hate. I think we did great getting him. He's played for coach Jackson before, so there is history there. Plus we already picked up Pryor earlier this year. So I believe that with Palmer and Campbell (whenever he should recover) Pryor should have two good qbs to learn from. I do agree that we certainly like to give up our 1st round picks, but hey if Palmer works out, its a small price to pay. Raider Nation 4 Life Quote
detroit1 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 The Raiders had to do something. Is Palmer the guy? Maybe. Two picks for a guy that will never play for you again is a great deal, especially when one is a first rounder. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 19, 2011 Super User Posted October 19, 2011 You poor Raider fans have just been had.I heard Brown was laughing so hard that he almost had a heart attack.Definately a trade of great desperation on the Raiders part. Quote

Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted October 19, 2011 Super User Posted October 19, 2011 The Bengals could have everybodies first round pick for the next three years, and still be terrible. I think Palmer will be a great fit at Oakland. Raider Nation 4 LIFE. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 19, 2011 Author Super User Posted October 19, 2011 The offense is a relatively young group so if Palmer works out, they may not need any offensive players for a couple of years. They figure they may as well trade their 1st round picks, they sure have whiffed on a few lately anyway. Heyward-Bey, Jamarcus 'sizzurp' Russell. I will say that Heyward-Bey is getting a little better these days, the past couple years he couldn't catch a cold. He's still got a long way to go to prove his worth as a 1st round pick. Just win baby! Quote

Just win baby! Every team whiffs on picks, and first rounders are no different. In the last 10 years the Raiders have picked Mcfadden, Gallery, Asomugha and Janikowski, in the first round. Not too shabby, and comparatively, probably as good as many teams. I do think they could have bargained a bit better for Palmer though. Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted October 19, 2011 Super User Posted October 19, 2011 The Jamarcus Russell whiff cancels out all recent decent 1st round draft picks. and the marinovich pick probably wiped out the late 80's then as well. Quote

X10 Heck, they haven't even been able to get rid of his jerseys. They were selling for 15 dollars for the authentic jerseys,(last year) and still no one would touch them. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 30, 2011 Author Super User Posted October 30, 2011 Marinovich could've been a decent QB if he had smoked a whole lot less weed. Quote

endless Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 We will see how Palmer looks after the bye week. I'm not taking nothing off of what happen last week. I do hope Campbell not getting the shaft after his recovery. The man deserves a chance after his return unless Palmer is a straight monster. Palmer got the weapons in Oakland so we shall see, won't we? Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 30, 2011 Author Super User Posted October 30, 2011 In my opinion, as a Raider fan, I think Hue Jackson could see that Campbell wasnt going to be the QB that everyone was hoping he would be. So when JC got hurt, Jackson saw that as the perfect time to get an upper level QB like Palmer. I don't see JC getting the starting job back but if he does, we'll have the best 2nd string QB in the league. Quote
endless Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Raiders fan(5bass and Raider Nation) how y'all feel about Houshmandzadeh practicing for Y'all? Not sure if sign yet but he is there working out for the Raiders?? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d823a72cc/article/raiders-want-to-see-what-houshmandzadeh-has-left-in-tank?module=HP11_headline_stack Quote
BassThumb Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 With two stud running backs on the roster, Palmer should get used to being less of a factor than he was in Cinci. He doesn't need to air it out all the time anymore, just manage the game and provide some stability. Quote

Super User 5bass Posted November 2, 2011 Author Super User Posted November 2, 2011 TJ Hoosyourmama will be a big help in my opinion. He's played with Palmer before and is a much better receiver than what they have on the field now. Murphy could be good if he could catch the ball consistently, Heyward-Bey, same as Murphy. Ford is decent so far and can make big plays happen. I really think TJ will be a help. I hope so anyway. I'd really like to see them pick up T.O. and get Randy Moss to come back. Quote
