Super User South FLA Posted October 17, 2011 Super User Posted October 17, 2011 Lake level is officially 11.99' today and the water keeps pouring into it, we have a possible tropical depression coming our way and then a cold front pushing through. Do you guys think we can be headed for high 13' possible low 14' levels? I really hope so! Quote
bocabasser Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 i was just going to post the same thing. smart minds think alike. can't wait for this weekend. Quote
salmicropterus Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 South Florida Water Management District is predicting 13.25 from the widespread rain event on the 8th. Furthermore, they are saying no releases from the Lake are planned. Anything coming up from the Gulf should add to that. The Kissimmee River is running full bore from the S-65 gate at the South End of Lake Kissimmee all the way down to the Lake. I have a T up at Grape Hammock this weekend and it should be interesting (hope "good interesting and not "bad" interesting). If all of this occurs, we caught a break Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 The pumps at the river are on higher then Iv ever seen, the river flowing down and southeast wind had the mouth of the kissimee looking like an ocean yesterday, there was 5 foot rollers breaking at the markers. They blocked off the upper river due to the current coming down, there pumping up at TOHO like mad pushing all the water south. Too fast isn't really that good but Ill take it, I just hiope this depression doesn't put too much on us, there nothing worse then too high, it turn's the lake to a mud hole and ruins all the grass. Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 17, 2011 Super User Posted October 17, 2011 I finally had a few minutes to walk outside and take a look at my little lake today and was shocked at how high the water is right now. I can only imagine how everything north of me looks with the amount of water that's been dumped into the area lately. Looks like Okeechobee dodged a bullet as far as the water levels go.... Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Ya, I think it will easily be 13ft by next week and when it's all said and done it will be 14.5ft. I just hope they don't pump any out. Quote
salmicropterus Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 It's really pouring in now. 12.29 at 11PM last night and 12.41 reatime at 7 this morning. 13+ looks for sure and this current system could do 14 I'm thinking. Quote
piscicidal Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 13.5ft and still rising....FAST. Is this a case of "be careful what you wish for"? Quote
salmicropterus Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 13.5ft and still rising....FAST. Is this a case of "be careful what you wish for"? You gotta wonder...although everyone is saying the fishing is fantastic. I haven't been up to see the water and I have a T at Grape Hammock this weekend. Can't wait to get up there. I was looking at the levels upstream and at least at Kissimmee the water is down about a foot in the last week plus it looks like the lock is closed so only the gates are open. But, this rain has been up there and it's got to go somewhere so looks like it could go 14+ easily. I haven't been to Holiday or the Alley either-is the water way up there like in the parking lot high? Quote
bocabasser Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 i fished a big fish tourny on saturday out of slims. water was amazing everywhere. rained hard from 7:15 to 10 and then no rain til 1. fishing was fantastic! mike surman had big fish 7.54. myself and 4 others each had 6+ pounders. fishing is only going to get better. http://my.sfwmd.gov/sfwmd/common/images/weather/rt/rt_L.OKEE.html Quote
gar-tracker Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The fishing never got bad, its just how we get them is what changes. I hope it doesn't go over 14, too high ruins all the grass and muddys it up. I remeber when they used to keep 17-18 it was a big mudbowl. Bocabasser what weight won that? Quote

Super User South FLA Posted November 7, 2011 Author Super User Posted November 7, 2011 So after all the rains and the 100 year event in the Kissimee Basin I think we will be close to 14, it was 13.72 this morning and rising about .06/day or close to 3/4 inch a day now, but not sure it can be sustained much longer. I was hoping to see mid 14s to sustain us through the dry winter months. Duck and bass like the shallows, by the way the lake is incredibly right now if you can get back to them, buddy went out this weekend and slayed them with a 8lber to boot! Quote
bocabasser Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 fished burkes tournament yesterday out of belle glade. it is amazing how clean the water is even with the wind blowing. fished west and east wall and caught a ton of fish there. we had 20.4 pounds and did not even come close to the mcmillans who had 30.7 and 28.9 respectfully. those guys just flat out kow where the big ones are. our big fish was 6.7. jared had a 8.54 and a 7.92. even with bad weather, the lake is hot! Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Wow! 28-30 lb. sacks are just ridiculous! Its crazy to think 20lbs didn't even come close to winning. Lake O' Rocks! Quote
Super User South FLA Posted November 7, 2011 Author Super User Posted November 7, 2011 Are the McMillians targeting Dyess ditch and Horse Island still? I believe I remember an interview with either one of them or another FLW local that said if you know the historic travel and bedding grounds you have the lake pretty much figured out during prespawn, spawn and post spawn, its just being where the big fish are and that is the W / NW side. evrgladesbasser Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I was up there for my club tourny over the weekend and caught a pair of 8lbers on the SE side of the lake. Wind was horrible... Quote
