rboat Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 If you have a panic box or just a place you keep some lures that can possibly save the day. What do you keep there? I normally have a small box of down sized stuff that can help trigger a bite. Normally won't catch a big fish, but some small 1-2 lbers keeps the skunk away. 1. a small size senko 2. a beetle spin 3. a small spoon 4. a small rapala 5. a mepps spinner These have saved a tough day a few times. How about you? Quote
NoBassPro Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 A couple #7 Rapalas and beetle spins are my back up baits. I wouldn't discount them for large fish either. I've gotten pike up to 40" on the beetle spin and numerous bass in the 4-5 lb range on the rapala. For the waters I fish those are decent. My wife's tackle box has two types of baits in it - some bitsy minnows and an assortment of soft plastic beetle spin type lures. Or gummies as she calls them. That's enough to keep her busy almost anytime we go out, and with those little baits you never know whats going to bite. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 12, 2011 Super User Posted October 12, 2011 I don't have a panic box, but I have panic spots. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I dont have a panic box, but when times are tough, I throw a t-rigged rage craw around cover or cover alot of water with a crankbait. Quote

backwater4 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 No panic box, just a whole tackle compartment I can go to in a panic. When in doubt, throw an inline spinner. Quote

Revo_Carrot Stix Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 My last resort technique(s) are Senkos and shakyheads to keep the sknunk away. Quote
brushhoggin Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 hm, is this a trick question? cause my panic box lures would be considered the ones i have the most confidence in, and also represent my most effective style/method that suits me personally, which is what i usually start out with. When i start "panicking", i start experimenting and throwing lures that aren't within my safe little realm that molds my style. Quote
Five-Alive Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I am on the same page as Big'un, I have way too much tackle in the boat but I do fix a box for each tournament that I call a go-to box and it will have what I think I will be throwing during the day so along with my hook & sinker box and a go-to soft sided bag for plastics hopefully I will be set for the day!! Tsuprum Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 a 1 inch white mister twister with a 1/32 or 1/64th oz live bait jig head. You will be surprised at what you can catch on this lure. Also if you don't catch a bass you will most certainly catch bluebills, crappie's and other pan fish, at least it's a fish. I have had several instances were I had a bluegill on and a bass would try to eat the bluegill. You might get the bass fired up. Quote
Fat-G Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If I "had" to pick three, it would go: Rage Tail Baby Craw Xcalibur XR50 One Knocker Rage Tail Baby Thumper Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 13, 2011 Super User Posted October 13, 2011 I never panic and don't use certain baits or techniques as a last resort, I stick with my game plan, usually somewhere along the line I'll score, if i don't so be it. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 13, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 13, 2011 You always need a panic box. If you're afraid of the word "panic", then call it your "backup plan box". Whatever the term, it's a great way to ensure you'll at least get a few in the boat.
