LWD1982 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I hate getting skunked but I accept it when it happens. I fish for either brim or bass so if the bass are skunking me at least I'm catching some brim. Hardly ever get skunked on the brim though they are quite plentiful. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 10, 2011 Global Moderator Posted October 10, 2011 Last time I got skunked was probably 6 or 7 years ago on a really tough neighborhood lake. I fish a lot but the lakes I fish usually produce good numbers of fish so the chances of getting skunked go way down. Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 It really depends where and on what, but I usually take a few green pumpkin and junebug senko style lures with me, not matter what i'm fishing. Just incase I need some confidence, even a bite can give that sometimes. I try and commit to a certin bait tho and make sure to get my fish on it. That being said I went 6-0 earlier this year, pretty long outings too, I'v never been happier with a short fish in my life than after that! NGaHB Quote
gr8outdoorz Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 My skunk ratio is directly proportional to the size of fish I´m targeting, 8-12 inchers ? very seldomly, 10+ pounders ? man, I don´t even want to now my skunk ratio but it stinks like ..... skunk. X2! Those dinks are easy...but man them big girls know how to make me feel STUPID!!! Quote
Buckeye Bassin Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Up here in Ohio, on my home lake, more than I'd like. But also, 3-4 bass is an excellent day on this lake, 2 is average, so it's all realtive. If I lived down in Texas where my brother lives, though, I would expect better. (He just texted me, 9 already this morn, I got zippo!!) It's OK, I'll just keep working on my technique and learning as much as I can, it can only get better. Quote
Wisconsin Heat. Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 i voted 10% but thepast two trips have ended up in 1 massive bite on a 10in worm(man im mad i missed him) and zero fish. im going tommorow and if i skunk out again i will be packing the stuff up for winter. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted October 30, 2011 Super User Posted October 30, 2011 Well guys if you ever want to get skunked come out to my area Quote
Jim H. Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Everybody gets skunked. I once fished a tournment on the Ohio River in the spring. I managed to catch one questionable bass that was pushing the 12" length limit. When I got to the weigh in I debated whether or not to try to weigh in the fish and thought "that's crazy, one 12" dink isn't worth the effort." There were 127 boats in the tournament. That is 254 guys out there trying their durnest to catch bass. Turns out there were ZERO, ZIP, NADA, fish weighed in and the prize money was prorated and mailed out to the entrants. For years now I have wondered what would have happened if I had tried to wheigh that fish? Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 30, 2011 Super User Posted October 30, 2011 During this time of the year,It's a lot! I think I'm already done for the season...this is the 3rd week now I haven't done any fishing.Work, family and among other things are keeping me way to busy...Sadly Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 31, 2011 Super User Posted October 31, 2011 I have been skunked on probably every body of water I have ever fished including far north Canadian lakes. Never two days in a row. Stuff happens. A good skunk-in helps you appreciate what a rose really smell like. That's the best answer I've seen for this question. I've been skunked more than once everywhere I've been. Except Trophy Country. I'm gonna have to guess at least 30% of my trips end in a goose egg. Maybe more. I call those trips "casting practise". Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 31, 2011 Super User Posted October 31, 2011 I did some casting practice on Saturday. Froze my butt off casting for browns and steelies that were unwilling to cooperate. Word was, the creeks were on fire. Should have put on the waders, and left the boat in the driveway! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 31, 2011 Super User Posted October 31, 2011 Well guys if you ever want to get skunked come out to my area Already there. Skunked more often than I catch. Makes it hard getting my grandsons interested in fishing. Need a place where bluegills or sunnies are caught on almost every cast. Then I'll have them hooked! Quote
