Super User dodgeguy Posted October 16, 2011 Super User Posted October 16, 2011 I gave braid a real shot this year and put it on everything to narrow down on what I want to use it for in the future. Then I put some co-poly and flouro on and geez I hate stretch so much that I went back. What I hate about braid though are wind knots, wraps around guides easier, also when using anything lighter I don't like the larger bow in the line. I'm sure I'm loosing sensitive cause of it but it's hard for me to really judge. A couple pluses for me is no stretch and doesn't coil up like the other lines. use sufix 832.it sinks so the bow is decreased.there is not a more sensitive line out there.use at least 50 lb test on baitcasters.heavier lines tip wrap less. Jaheff Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 It's always windy here and I use braid 100% time( except offshore) with only 1 issue and it isn't the wind. This probably isn't the place but,I gotta disagree with you on the offshore. This is what braid was made for and where braid shines. Do you remember using a reel that weighed 4 pounds for offshore 15 years ago? Now that braid is thinner and stronger, you can have a lighter, stronger reel that weighs in at 25 ounces and still has the line capacity for offshore fishing. Take your Avet, it was made for braid.300 yds.of 50# braid a top shot or a leader of your choice. Quote

The drift boats here don't allow braid, tangling with mono is a nightmare and lines are always getting cut. I mainly fish from private boats (maybe on a drift boat 2 or 3 times this year) and always use braid, my Avet really gets limited use. My #1 outfit is Penn Conquer 7000 with 20# braid on a 30# class boat rod, big enough for sailfish and good sized dolphins and kings. Quote
msolorio Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 all the time in any situation. im in the process of makin the switch to 100% braid because i love everything about it, dont have one complaint or issue. i tie direct cus i honestly dont care if the fish see my line or not, if theyre gonna bite, theyre gonna bite, if not, then theyre not. the only time i tie a leader is when throwin a swimbait, crankbait, or jerkbait but even then i tie direct most the time. pitchinthejig Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 The 832 is a good line and it is sensitive however to me it doesnt transmit anything as well as Daiwa braid does, I believe its got to do with the super small dia. of the Daiwa stuff and how super tight its braided. I have tried 832 in a few different tests and liked it pretty good but it only stayed on a PX68 gave all the left over to my dad. IMHO and many many others nothing comes close to the Daiwa stuff... The only other braid I will use (I will never buy any 832 again) is Toray Bawo and I only buy that when I cant get any Daiwa braid and need it right then and my local guy has the Toray stuff. Quote

Could you do a comparison between the Samurai and the Toray Bawo? Especially in manageability out of the box and in casting distance. Quote
