krisjack69 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I hook the 5" senko just like a plastic worm with either a 3/0 or 5/0 gammy offset shank ewg hook.My problem is I throw out and when I get it back the hook point shows.I keep having to hook the senko for some reason. Is there a special way of doing this. Also what is the best hook for wacky rig. Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 When you first rig the ewg, go all the way though (on purpose) and then come back and bury JUST the point of the hook back in the worm. Wacky=octopus 1/0 or 2/0 for 3,4 & 5 " 2/0 & 3/0 for anything larger Quote
Banor Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I mainly prefer wacky rigging with a small octopus hook and an O-ring to keep it from breaking in half. I think the senko lasts much longer this way and has a better fall. B Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 26, 2007 Super User Posted February 26, 2007 For wacky rigging a 5" Senko, I use the Gammy finesse wide gap hook in 2/0 or 3/0 Quote
krisjack69 Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 What do mean when you say all the way through I do that anyway. This is the step I do.I put the hook on the nose and through it and then out of the bottom and then pull the hook all the way out to over the hook hole then I put the hook point into the plastic. What am I doing wrong?Where can I buy o-rings at.Can I buy them at wal-mart for example. Banor Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Not sure about Wal Mart. I get mine at a local tackle shop here in Michigan. Doesnt sound like you are doing anything wrong. It might be possible you have too big of a hook. I wouldnt go any bigger than a 2/0 for 5" senkos. The smaller the better in my opinion. The thicker hooks will shred your senko and cause it to fall apart. B Quote
BigGameHunter Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I got my o-rings at Home depot. I just took a couple senko's in with me and tried different ones until I found the right size. One thing I did notice is that when I went to use some senkos in a different color they seemed to be a tad bit smaller in diameter then the ones I took into the store and they were a little loose, I would recommend buying a couple of different sizes just to ensore you are covered. Super User Munkin Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 Let me know when someone finds a "wrong way" to fish a senko? Allen Quote
krisjack69 Posted February 27, 2007 Author Posted February 27, 2007 I'm using a 3/0 to 5/0 gammy ewg hook and I keep on having to put the senko back on the hook for some reason. Its really frustrating.I saw that people on here recommended a 3 to 5 gammy ewg hook so I bought some of both and still does it so I'm just gonna get some octopus hook by gammy and wacky rig it since thats the easiest way to hook it i guess.Probably thow the senko off that way tho. This is my first pack of senko's ever and I don't see what the fuss is about to be honest with you. There real easy to throw off and mess up.I'm gonna use the flash senko's from now on from walmart.I'm not gonna buy em from the internet again since thats the only way I can get em since nobody sales senkos here. BigGameHunter Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I dont use the GYB Senkos, I found that they ripped too easy and didnt last long. I mainly use YUM Dingers, IMO they seem to last alot longer, I can catch 6-8 fish on it before it flys off when I cast. Quote
BOOYAH Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Can someone post a pick of how to use the O-ring on the wacky rigged senko? Thanks Quote
BigGameHunter Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 This pic shows a wacky rigged stix bait using an o-ring. Also shows a tool for putting the o-rings on, looks to me like you could just use the nock end of an aluminum arrow, if the inner diameter was big enough. Quote
