justin apfel Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I'll be fishing the Chick this sunday for a school tournament, I haven't fished it in the fall but in the summer I caught a nice 5-6 lb on a blue/black jig. Has anyone made it out on the Chick lately? If so what worked? Quote
chickvet Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 justin apfel, I created an account just to reply to this so hopefully you do well in your tournament. I have over 15 yrs experience on both the river and the lake. Not sure which one you are referring to but I'll give it a shot. If it's the river fish any wood on the main river. The pads will have some fish too, I always fish the wood. If it's the lake, fish around the eagles landing location. RatLtraps, senkos, spinnerbaits, etc. Can't reveal the exact locations but I know that the eagles landing area is holding fish right now. It's right near the ramp, just put your trolling motor down and go fishing. If you're coming out of ed allens go up lake till you see the ramp. Takes me about 5-10 mins in my boat, but not sure what kind of boat you have. Either way should be worth it. Fish the cypress trees, grass, pads, etc. You should be able to stay in that area all day. If you can't get on them there, work your way down toward ed allen's. Good luck! Super User Sam Posted October 8, 2011 Super User Posted October 8, 2011 Chickvet, we would love to have you join us on the Forum. Any info about Chick River would be very helpful to the Virgnia anglers. Sorry Justin, I have not fished Chick Lake in a few years so I must defer to Chickvet. Quote

Never had any success out Eagles, looking to head out tackle it agian. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 18, 2011 Super User Posted October 18, 2011 Everyone does great on Chick Lake other than school teachers. For some unknown reason school teachers and coaches don't do well. Now it is up to you to change this. We are looking to you to knock 'em upside the head. Let us know how you do. Have fun!!!! Quote

The Chick has been a rough spot for me. I've only launched out Eagles' once/twice. Hopefully this fall season changes things for me. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 20, 2011 Super User Posted October 20, 2011 Sent a PM to you. Good luck!!!! Quote

Super User Micro Posted October 24, 2011 Super User Posted October 24, 2011 Someone mention Chick lake? I think I'm gonna have my ashes spread there. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 25, 2011 Super User Posted October 25, 2011 Micro, I wonder how Kaotic did on the lake? Also, the guy I mentioned to you who had his boat stolen says the marina does not have any insurance on the boats stored there. The guy has a Chubb homeowners policy and I belive he has up to $10,000 for the stolen boat. I am doing research now to confirm. USAA gives us $1,500 on watercraft. Thanks for your input. Keep those cards, letters and posts coming! Quote
Reel_Kaotic Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 @Sam: I did ok, out on the lake. Caught only a few. We didn't get there as early as we wanted to. Going back this Sunday. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 28, 2011 Super User Posted October 28, 2011 Withe the front moving through on Saturday, Sunday is going to be a hard day fishing. Quote
