basscatcher8 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I have been looking around at replacing my 16' Sylvan with a bass boat. I have been looking around at boats that can be more multi purpose. I am one of the folks who when november comes the bass rods go away and the shot guns and duck decoys come out. Well I would like to find a good bass boat that comes with the camo color option. I have been looking at the Alumacraft All Welds in the 18 and 20 foot models. They come with the side console and casting deck as well as the camo design. I have also looked at the war eagle and they look like nice boats as well. I am leaning towards the Alumacraft because there is a dealer within a half hour from my home. I was curious if any of the members might of had any experience with these boats. I am also open to suggestions if anybody knows another manufacturer to look at that might offer something similar to this. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 4, 2011 Super User Posted October 4, 2011 One of my fishing buddies, Tate, has a camo Alumacraft with a Rhino Linings clear coat over the camoflage. He is well pleased with the boat. It will definitely make a better hunting boat than a full bore bass boat. If it has a downside is that the wind will push it around easier than a fiberglass bass boat. But, it is much better suited for getting into the places where you would set up for duck hunting. It is lighter, trailers easier, and planes out at slower speeds than the standard bass boat. For carrying a dog(s), camo canopy, decoys, and other gear, it's a much better deal. In the end, only you can determine which way the tradeoffs work best for you. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Thanks for the input Rhino. I figured that fiberglass would be impossible. I have been focused on the aluminum models. Alumacraft and War Eagle seemed to be the only two that offered the camo. I checked all over tracker and didn't see anything. I need to get over to the dealer and actually check the boat out and see if it will fit what I need. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 5, 2011 Super User Posted October 5, 2011 I can state for a fact the Tracker offers camo boats. Go to this site and read the last paragraph. My local BPS has them on display all the time. http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/?boat=3360 Quote
basscatcher8 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Wow mike thank you I completely missed those. I guess i was hoping there was a chance the 190 would come in camo LMAO! Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted October 5, 2011 Super User Posted October 5, 2011 The young man that ended up with my old Ranger (17' 335v Commanche) uses it for duck hunting! No paint job involved, but a frame made from plastic pipe placed on top of the boat with camo draped over the frame right down to the water. It works for him. Quote
