Word is that Apple is getting ready to drop the iPod Classic and Shuffle, and there have been rumors of them dropping the iPod line entirely. Last report I read said something along the lines of iPods only making up about 7% of Apples revenue now, and with the iPhone and iPad doing everything the iPod did (and more) there's not enough $$ in it anymore.

I don't get why people buy a new 300 dollar phone every year. What is so great about the iPhone? What I am I missing? As long as my phone makes calls that's all I care about. I have a 100 dollar lg whine that has more features then what I need. I have a computer for internet. I can get on my phone for internet if I wanted to. I will not pay another 60 dollars a month for internet. I also don't text. I guess call me a cheap ***.

I do own a old 30gig classic iPod though. The main reason I bought it is to save my cd's from getting screwed up in my car. I have a few problems with the iPod. The main one is the dumb iTunes. If apple dose decided to kill the iPod classic. I hope they replace it with a touch screen 160 gig one. I am looking at getting a classic 160 gig now.

They released a new white ipod touch. Check out www.appleinsider.com, you can get all the updates there. I will be ordering 2 iphone 4Ss on friday. I've been waiting a long time for this to come out.

I don't get why people buy a new 300 dollar rod every 6 months either. ;)

Imho, there are so many other options, that unless you're just in love with Apple products there are generally better options available.

I will admit that I recently bought the wife a new Nano for Mother's Day, but that's only because the radio in her car has iPod integration, allowing here to control most of the features thru the steering wheel-mounted controls.

Apple makes technology for people who don't know technology... They even say it themselves. Not saying everyone that uses it isn't smart, but that is their target audience. You can pull out an Apple product and use it without screwing with minimal settings.

Personally, I think you're a fool to upgrade now. It's an iPhone 4 with a better camera and a 'faster processor', which in this case, is dumb. The iPhone 4 is fast enough as it is, so they are fluffing their numbers to excite end users. Keep your 4, wait for iOS 5 and wait until the iPhone 5 comes out and see what they change.

I think it would be better to say it's easier for end user use. It is still good for people who know technology because you can jailbreak them and do a lot of cool things, and the new siri voice recognition should be awesome. I am still using a pos blackberry and refused to but the iphone 4 knowing this was coming out.

I was looking at a zune also. Like your wife's car I have a radio that has iPod plugin. That is also the main reason I decided to get it. But I can control every thing on a aftermarket alpine head unit.

I don't get it either. The same with texting. I've seen our daughter texting when the person she is texting to is on the other line waiting for the next message. Why not just talk? Texting, with or without a keyboard is a waste of time when you can converse with the other person. Seems to me that too many folks are bored with their lives and need gadgets to keep themselves occupied.

It's a matter of status, keeping up with the latest and greatest gimmicks.

I do like the navigation systems in vehicles however. I do use mine frequently.

In the shop my wife works at, texting is the way many employees spend their days rather than trying to hit production quotas! Seems most of the supervisors can only notice when a cellphone is held up to an ear, but don't find anything strange about employees staring at the floor half the day.

Personally, I'm still plugging away with an old Nokia phone that can't take pictures, can't get internet, text, play music, play games, or anything besides being used as an actual phone.

It does have the option to turn off the ringer though, which I find quite useful!

I spent quite a few years doing welding, fabrication, metal forming, aircraft structural repair, and even worked as a machinist for a while, and in all of those shops texting was a much better option for conversing than a phone call. With the background noise and the inability to walk away from the job to step outside, it was pretty much the only way to communicate with me during the day.

So you do get it...something more convenient than an old fashioned map. For some people, it's just more convenient to text, especially when you don't need a whole conversation. Wife can send me a quick list of stuff to pick up at the grocery, or where and when to pickup our son after practice.

That, I can understand. What I don't understand is having a conversation via texting. In a noisy place it's fine also. That I can understand. But for casual communication between two people, neither of which is in a noisy place, that, I don't understand.

Another problem with texting or written communication, it's not as personal. You don't pick up on inflections, words said with emphasis, unless you use upper case letters, etc.

This I know for sure. Speaking is much more convenient that texting, for me.

I think it's just another layer of communication. I can't help stupid texting. There's stupid all over the place. There's no test to get a cell phone, LOL. The one that amazes me is texting while driving. So, so dangerous.

It's a generational thing, my kids, their husbands and their kids all text like crazy, leave a message on voice mail, they don't even bother checking. Only time they use the phone to call us is when they want something......lol.

I did buy a smartphone and for me was a mistake, I use a few apps but I get can any of that info at home before I leave. I'm looking forward to getting back to my faithful flip phone. I won't return a text, you want me, use the f^^^ phone.

As a former business owner any employee of mine was there for 1 reason, to do the work I hired them to do. There was no texting then but cell phones were getting real popular. The rule, leave your cell phone in your locker or better yet in your car. In case of emergency have your other half call the office, we'll get to you real fast. I furnished cell phones for my drivers so I could get in touch with them, it was ok for them to use it for personal when not at work.

My wife will do that she will have a full mailbox 15 messages never checks them till I yell at her to when I really needed to get ahold of her and couldn't and couldn't leave a message. Same for her work she was on her phone constantly texting me or looking stuff up and texting me what she looked up my phone would be buzzing like crazy.

Now I just got the iPhone 4 about 2 weeks ago was warned by the rep at best buy to wait for the 5 but what's the point it's gonna do the same as mine with a better camera but whoopee do mines jail broke does more ten could ask to do and it's still a phone camera will look good on ur screen till ya go to print it out.

I don't get all the Apple users either. I bought into the smartphone craze and now I'm not even excited for it anymore. The GPS feature on my phone and the internet came in handy a couple times when I'm away from my house, but otherwise I only use it for texting and phone calls. I got tired of playing games and when I want play games it will drain my battery. I'd probably be happy if I still had my normal phone. I dropped it in a creek and that led to buying a smartphone. When it comes time to change phone, I'll probably go back to a regular phone unless I find more use for a smartphone, work wise.

I don't have an Apple but I like my Evo for it's full web browser. I barely rarely text at times I do and my wife she uses my phone allot more than I do. I don't use much of the GPS but I love the maps. It works just as good as GPS for me.

Sad part is soon there won't be a non smart phone last time I was in Verizon which was just te other week they said soon all phones will be Internet and have to pay the extra 30 or 40 a month.

Now I would die without my iPhone or any smart phone I use it for everything sense I dont have a computer at home. I use it for BR, emails, army pay, my army email and other army related stuff I need on the fly out here, it's my fishing log, gps, I use it to mark last known points when tracking deer and let's not forget angry birds and zombie gunship. A regular phone can't do any of that and all are needed besides maybe maybe angry birds lol

Att is letting you either get a bill credit for the iPhone if you bought it in the last 30 days (since the price dropped yesterday) or you get exchange it for the 4S when it launches.

I hate to be the party pooper, but I hate iphones. Every one I have ever seen was broken within 2-3 weeks tops. When I was getting the upgrade for my phone, the sales rep told me they were glass. glass? really apple? a glass phone? HTC ftw.
