Edgy Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I am a rookie fisherman only fished for about 2-3 years intensely, before then like maybe 1-2 times a year. Well i was looking to see what rivers/lakes/resivors are around here for Largemouth / small-mouth fishing. I have been to eagle creek and giest. I have heard about white river but i wanted to know of other hotspots. Quote
Sfritr Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I am not from IN. however, I do fish there fairly regularly. Are you fishing from the shore or by boat? You should definately check out www.patokalake.com and search around here on the forums. There are some great threads regarding local Indiana lakes and rivers. Good luck Quote
Edgy Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 I mainly fish on the shore around places like neighbor hood stocked ponds, ponds in my town. Every once in a while i bum a boat ride with my cousins boyfriend or my dad's work friends to go fishing but that is a rare occurrence. Ill check out that website too. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I fish the Indianapolis area. Morse has some good fish. Last year they caught an 8 lb fish and released it out of there. It was the lake record. It is a complete rip off though for launch fees for both lakes. Early in the year I wanted to test my new depthfinder on my boat just to see if it would work. Showed up at Morse to see if they would just let me test it. Manager called me a thief by even asking. Complete jerk. So I try not to go there as much as I can help it. On the weekend it is $29 during the summer to launch your boat!! Your best bet is fishing the ponds for building confidence and having fun. I am in the same boat as you. Just started fishing more serious about 2 years ago. I like getting out on the boat, but the most fun and biggest fish have come from the ponds. If I stay around here I mostly fish the ponds. Quote
Eriewormer Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Not from Indy, but I camp there every year (Howe). Have fished Pokagon, Cedar and Potato Creek and can't wait to go back next year. Quote
Edgy Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Yea i don't have a boat yet, i have walked around the causeway at eagle creek and caught a nice 4 lber last summer. But yea i notice alot of lakes are business, if there is no sign i fish it, because most of the time to keep a lake looking good you need some fish to help maintain it. A lake was just put into the neighborhood next to mine, the bass are like not even close to a foot maybe 6-7inches at max, so i am sure next summer i might be able to catch them. Quote
