InLikeFinz Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hi fellas, Just need some help figuring out what this is. My dad and uncle are on Smith Mountain lake and they caught this little guy. Doesn't look like a LM but yet it also doesn't look like a SM either. Just curious. Thanks! Jason http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u93/slowmo_photos/?action=view¤t=IMG951665.jpg Quote

Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted September 30, 2011 Super User Posted September 30, 2011 I second that. Looks like a small mouth. I also believe his name is Charlie and he has been missing for two weeks. Quote
InLikeFinz Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Thank you good sirs. Knowing my pops he was released shortly after this photo to grow into a big ole pig! Tight lines! Jason Quote
Nick Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Hard to tell exactly, but I think I detect a bit of a Kentucky's lateral line so you could have a meanmouth there. Any spotted bass in this lake? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 1, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 1, 2011 Oh heck, that's definitely a smallmouth. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted October 1, 2011 Super User Posted October 1, 2011 Have to agree... smallie no doubt. Quote
InLikeFinz Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks again fellas. It was hard to tell because it didn't have the coloration and size of the giant ones you guys post on here. I hope to go there with them some day and catch one of my own! (except around 6lbs, haha!) Jason Quote

NateFollmer Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Smallie, the jaw doesn't extend past the eye and you can always tell by how the mouth tends to be pointed 'down' more than other bass. Quote
